Jaga Jazzist return with their new album Pyramid, where the legendary Norwegian eight-piece takes a deep dive into post-rock, jazz and psychedelia influences. It’s their first album since 2015’s Starfire, their ninth album in a career now spanning four decades, but it marks the group’s debut on Brainfeeder, the LA-based imprint curated by Flying Lotus. On Pyramid, Jaga Jazzist have crafted a suitably cosmic sound to match their new label home, all the while nodding to forebears spanning from 80s jazz band Out To Lunch and Norwegian synth guru Ståle Storløkken, to contemporaries Tame Impala, Todd Terje and Jon Hopkins. Each of the album’s four longform entries evolves over carefully plotted movements, the tracks’ technicolour threads dreamily unspooling.

After the very acoustic "¿Dónde estás María?". I decided to try a new experiment taking as a reference the legendary group "Cumbia siglo XX" which is a group who explores a futuristic vision of coastal cumbia in the 80s, together with other groups such as "Grupo folclórico", "2000 voltios" and others, mainly under the label Machuca and Felito records. This new 80s cumbia was a combination of funky basses and a further evolution of the rhythms, blending this style with disco and even rock music and superimposing the traditional versus the urban context and the modernity.

25th anniversary reissue of this unique coming together of Brian Eno and ex-Public Image Limited bass player Jah Wobble, also featuring Jaki Liebezeit from Can on drums. Starting life as the soundtrack to Derek Jarman’s 'Glitterbug', Eno passed stereo mixes of the film cues to Wobble who embellished and built upon them to construct the 'Spinner' tracks. The resulting fusion combines icy ambience with a kind of psychogeographical funk.

Based in an Arthur C. Clarke novel, this album really makes you dream, travel through the stars and imagine this weird and diverse history. And this is along with Tubular Bells III, the last great album that Oldfield made. The production is just incredible, you will need a lot of listenings to apreciate the amount of details this album hides. The album is low paced, except some epic fragments wich will make you goose bumps… The dominat key are the keyboard and electronic elemnts, except the omnipresent Oldfield's guitars. The typical 90's new age is mixed with some original Oldfield's element and etnic influences, making a really stimulant and fresh mixture. Just marvellous!

Glyndebournes Saul stole the summer and had critics raving. The Guardian (****) applauded virtuoso stagecraft from director Barrie Kosky in his debut production there, calling the show a theatrical and musical feast of energetic choruses, surreal choreography and gorgeous singing. For The Independent, which ranked it amongst five top classical and opera performances of 2015, there was no praise too high for the cast. Michael Landau will be releasing his brand new album 'Liquid Quartet Live' on 21st August via The Players Club, a division of the Mascot Label Group. The album was recorded live at the world-famous Baked Potato Jazz Club in Los Angeles in November last year with his Liquid Quartet line-up of drummer Abe Laboriel Jr (Paul McCartney), bassist Jimmy Johnson (Allan Holdsworth) and on guitar and vocals, David Frazee (Burning Water).
