To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Janáček’s birth, this Decca Collector Edition brings together most of the composer’s chamber works and solo pieces plus his most popular orchestral works and the magnificent Glagolitic Mass in a superb digital recording with Riccardo Chailly and Wiener Philharmoniker. The recordings of the solo works and chamber pieces feature one of the world’s most distinguished ensembles: the London Sinfonietta and David Atherton. Their recordings were originally released as a 5-LP set in 1981 and many of these performances have not been available for several years; many also make their first international appearance on CD. This set provides the listener with all the essential non-operatic Janáček in one convenient collection.

This two-fer from the Australian Raven label is a part of a series of Delbert McClinton reissues. All of them come with new liner notes, session photos, and bonus tracks. These two albums, from 1980 and 1981, respectively, represent a renaissance for McClinton of sorts. While he never had a fallow period creatively, The Jealous Kind allowed him a renewed commercial viability even if it was short-lived. Both records were issued by the Muscle Shoals Sound imprint of Capitol Records and were produced by Barry Beckett with the Muscle Shoals rhythm section and horns. While the first disc is centered around diversity in its song choices – by everyone from Larry Henley to Bobby Charles to Van Morrison to Al Green to Jerry Williams – and took radical approaches to reinterpreting the material through soul, blues, funk, rock, and country, the latter chose hard-driving Southern-fried funk and R&B and a relatively close-to-the-vest approach in terms of material – most notably covers of "In the Midnight Hour" and Naomi Neville's "Lipstick Traces (On a Cigarette)".

Andrew Manze's interpretations of Vaughan Williams' Symphonies have been met with acclaim from audiences and critics alike. This third album in the series contains two masterpieces. The 5th Symphony of 1943 displaying a 'greatness of soul' as one commentator at the time wrote, draws on material for 'The Pilgrims Progress' from 1906. The 6th Symphony of 1944-7 stunned the audience at it's premiere - some tried to explain the works last movement as depicting a nuclear wasteland.

Cellist Wilhelmina Smiths second album release on Ondine continues exploring contemporary Nordic repertoire for solo cello. In her new album Smith has focus on Danish contemporary composers, Per Nørgård (b. 1932) and Poul Ruders (b. 1949). Both Nørgård and Ruders are known for their large-scale orchestral works. Nørgård, in particular, is known for his eight symphonies and has been hailed by many as one of the greatest living symphonists. It is therefore intriguing to look closer to his two very early lyrical solo cello sonatas, early masterpieces written just before completing his 1st Symphony.

During the early nineteenth century the new 1804 Viennese version of La Clemenza di Tito, was Mozart's most popular opera in Europe. However, in keeping with the practice during that period, it was performed in versions adapted to the times and the taste of the opera public and this is precisely the starting point for our recording's conductor Alessandro De Marchi. He would like to present Tito in the form in which it was staged and acclaimed in great houses from the Vienna Court Opera to the Milan Scala and from Dresden and Hamburg to Paris during the early years of the nineteenth century. Our recording is based on the acclaimed production at the Innsbruck Festival Weeks 2013 with the Academia Montis Regalis performing on historical instruments.

Bruce and the E Street Band perform a 26-song set in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, the second of two concerts. HIGHLIGHTS:

Lost And Found: Selections From The Lost Albums is a curated album of 20 previously unreleased songs from Bruce Springsteen's box set Tracks II: The Lost Albums.The recordings illustrate important chapters in the artist's storied career. This second volume in his complete symphony cycle with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra features Symphonies Nos.3 and 4. These two works were heavily influenced by the Great War and its aftermath. Full of repressed rage and sorrow at the futility of the war, Symphony No.3 is often seen as a war requiem. Symphony No.4 is a violent and turbulent work, reflecting the post Great War world and the political turmoil of the 1930s. Both works are illuminated by Manze's distinguished leadership.

“One of the great interpreters of J. S. Bach,” was the New York Times’ description of the German organist and harpsichordist Helmut Walcha (1907-1991). His “intuitive grasp of the composer’s mind and intentions” was noted by The Guardian, while Gramophone judged that “his coherence and inner logic as a Bach interpreter remain unsurpassed.” Walcha’s recordings of Bach’s major solo keyboard works, performed on the harpsichord, are gathered together in this superb 13-CD collection.

What is so good about Sir Roger's performances are that they are alive, vibrant, full of colour, devoid of clichés, utterly musical, coherent and convincing. Like Thomson he has a reliable ear for balance and texture and an instinctive ability to gauge the correct and most effective tempi.

Bobby Sherman never got much critical respect during the prime years of his career. Oh, he sold tons of records, to be sure, but the virtues of those recordings were eclipsed by his good looks and the publicity successes of his management, which got him on the cover of every teen magazine in the country, seemingly for four years running. Listening to this collection, it dawns on one just how much respect he did deserve as a singer (and reportedly still does, based on what people say of his 21st century shows). This is bubblegum rock, to be sure, but it's all amazingly "unsticky" for bubblegum rock, and Sherman's delivery on the 18 songs here is solid and effective, and holds up across 40 years. When he delivers the key lines from "Seattle" (the theme song from his series Here Come the Brides), he makes you feel that he feels the "hopes and fears" referred to, and the loneliness behind "time to leave your home and your loved ones" – and then he turns around and melds into the jauntiness of "Easy Come, Easy Go" just as easily. Sherman then switches gears into the Day-Glo-toned "Hey, Mister Sun," and makes you feel the boundless, easygoing joy around those lyrics. The fact is, Sherman was not only a superb singer but also a better actor than he ever got credit for being, an attribute that he throws into his records and which, coupled with first-rate pop production, makes them work brilliantly, even four decades on.

…To Be Loved: The Best of Papa Roach is the first compilation album by American rock band Papa Roach. It was released on June 29, 2010. It was the band's final album with Geffen Records, after the band left for Eleven Seven Music. The album omits one of the band's biggest singles, "Between Angels and Insects", which was a top 20 hit in the UK. The band members themselves asked their fans not to buy this CD (as well as expressed their resentment towards Geffen/Interscope) because they do not endorse this release, nor would they receive royalties for its sales.

Record Store Day 2020. Classic performance from Alice Cooper recorded live from The Apollo theatre Glasgow, Scotland, Feb 19, 1982 on his "Special Forces Tour". This recording is largely unreleased with only three tracks - "Who Do You Think We Are", "Under My Wheels" and "Model Citizen" - being previously released as 12" B-sides in 1982, and have not been available since. Strictly limited to 7000 copies.
