John Coltrane was one of the most seminal saxophonists to emerge in the post-war years, and is still one of the central figures in history of jazz. More than forty years after his death his playing and composing continues to resonate throughout contemporary music. David Korevaar
David Korevaar is a versatile pianist who has emphasized contemporary music and chamber music in his recordings and concerts. He is also an influential educator. Korevaar was born on July 25, 1962, in Madison, Wisconsin, but grew up in La Jolla, California. At six, he began taking piano lessons in nearby San Diego; he also studied the flute as a youth.

Brian Culbertson A prolific keyboardist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, Brian Culbertson is known for his many crossover albums, which find him touching upon jazz, funk, pop, and new age. Culbertson first broke through with 1997's Secrets, which reached number 15 on the contemporary jazz chart. He has released a series of Top Five jazz albums, including 1999's Somethin' Bout Love, for Warner Bros. and 2001's Nice & Slow for Atlantic. He also topped the same chart with 2005's It's on Tonight, 2008's Bringing Back the Funk, and 2010's XII. Over the years, he has worked with a bevy of crossover stars including Gerald Albright, Nathan East, Candy Dulfer, Bootsy Collins, and others. The founder of his own BCM Entrainment label, Culbertson has remained a jazz chart regular while exploring a variety of moods, including R&B-tinged romance on 2018's Colors of Love and intimate acoustic jazz on 2020's Winter Stories. Born in 1973, Culbertson grew up in Decatur, Illinois where his father, a respected high-school jazz band director and trumpeter, cultivated his love of music.

Daniel Barenboim is a conductor and pianist of top international stature, known for an extraordinarily large orchestral and operatic repertoire. He is the general music director and chief conductor for life of the Staatsoper Berlin in Germany.Barenboim was born in Buenos Aires on November 15, 1942, into a family of Ukrainian Jewish descent.

Ella Fitzgerald was one of the great singers of the 20th century, a song stylist who could range readily across worlds of jazz, swing, big band, R&B and sophisticated pop, and who set the standards for many artists who followed, as she became a major album seller in the later decades of her career.

Here is a collection of the most famous piano cycles by Robert Schumann, many of which are made available digitally for the first time, superbly rendered by Michel Béroff. These pieces come with a set of variations composed by Brahms after a short theme in E-Flat that Schumann wrote for piano, very similar to the melody of his violin concerto’s slow movement. Meant for piano four-hands, in which Béroff excelled (he notably formed a legendary duet with Jean-Philippe Collard), it is performed along with Jean-Bernard Pommier and has been newly remastered from the original tapes in high resolution.

Stephen Kovacevich A highly regarded pianist featured in the Philips label's Great Pianists of the 20th Century series, Stephen Kovacevich is particularly known for his original approach to the standard classical repertoire. Prominent in his repertoire is the music of such composers as Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Grieg, Brahms, and Bartók, but he is also an acclaimed interpreter of contemporary music, including Tippett's Piano Concerto and Richard Rodney Bennett's concerto (which was dedicated to Kovacevich). Born Stephen Bishop, he added his Croatian mother's surname, Kovacevich, in 1975, just in time to avoid confusion with popular singer-songwriter Stephen Bishop.

Lucienne Renaudin Vary
Trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary may be called a prodigy, making major concert appearances in French venues throughout her teenage years and releasing her first major-label album at 18. She began racking up competition wins while still a preteen. Vary's training and her recordings on the Warner Classics label are notable for their mixture of classical, jazz, and pop repertory. They include the 2024 album Jardins d'Hiver. Vary was born in Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, France, on January 28, 1999. Showing talent early on the trumpet, she enrolled at the Conservatory of Le Mans in 2007, taking classical trumpet lessons from Philippe Lafitte and jazz instruction from Santiago Quintans.

The music of GRAMMY-nominated and Latin GRAMMY-winning composer, Roberto Sierra, is performed worldwide and has long been admired for its confluence of Caribbean elements and inventive modernist language. The works on this album cover a decade’s worth of composition and examine crucial concepts – the idea of time in music; creative new applications of sonata form with regard to mood, tempo and character; and evocations of images seen through Latin American eyes. Last Dance at the Surf is a one-movement dance symphony for orchestra that reflects upon rock ’n roll legend Buddy Holly’s final performance in 1959 at the Surf Ballroom in Iowa and his tragic death in a plane crash just hours after his show.

Unreleased 19-track set recorded at the Peninsula library on Long Island in 1972 of the piano legend and trio.British born jazz piano legend Marian McPartland was a trailblazer in the music business recording over 40 albums for various labels including Savoy, Capitol, Concord and her own independent imprint, Halcyon Records. She was the host of Piano Jazz on NPR from 1978-2001 showcasing countless luminaries including Elvis Costello, Linda Ronstadt, Stephen Sondheim, Tony Bennett and countless others. She was awarded a lifetime achievement Grammy, designated a jazz master by the National Endowment for the Arts, appointed an officer to the Order of the British Empire (OBE) and an inductee into the National Radio Hall of Fame. This never before released performance was recorded at the Peninsula library in Lawrence on Long Island in New York on December 10, 1972, before a crowd of fans and students for a Sunday afternoon concert. The 18-track set features McPartland with Rusty Gilder on bass and Joe Corsello on drums playing various standards including "Stella by Starlight", "A Night In Tunisia" and "Satin Doll" along with songs of the moment like "Fire & Rain", "Raindrops Keep Fallin on My Head" and "The Summer of '42 Theme". The 19-track CD set features extensive liner notes from music historians Barry Singer and Paul de Barros with rare photos and memorabilia. The release will be supported with a major publicity campaign celebrating this overlooked legendary musician and influential cultural force.
