Arriving at a moment where attention spans are shot and anxieties are going into overdrive, Deleter, Holy Fuck’s fifth studio LP, is a defiantly full-bodied affair. Polyrhythmic and pleasure-focused, Deleter sees Brian Borcherdt, Graham Walsh, Matt Schulz, and Matt “Punchy” McQuaid utilises their signature sound - seamlessly fusing the gauzy drive of krautrock and deep house’s dreamy ineffability, expertly blending purring motorik percussion with the sort of fuggy synthetic fizz and tang they are renowned for. From the thrusting minimalism of opener Luxe through to the triumphant chug of closing track Ruby, via club-ready rollocker Free Gloss and the cosmic clatter of San Sebastian, Deleter is a record that joins the Holy Fuck dots within their widescreen, technicolour, crescendo-heavy sound.

He ushers us into Ravels musical worlds filled with ever-changing colors, scents, and flavors: the pulsating three-quarter time of waltzes that reflect just how much the Great War transformed European culture, the ancient love story of Daphnis and Chloé, and the relentless rhythms of Boléro. Four years after 2016’s “Cleansed by Carnage”, Swedish death metal pack Volturyon returns with the fourth outing. A collection of 11 adrenaline pumped and testosterone filled short bangers span the 39 minutes of savagery entitled “Xenogenesis”. It’s a quick hint at the fact that this band likes to get right down to business. Their brutal/slam tinged take on death metal is not the most original but you can expect consistency and energy all the way through. For a record of this style, this album hits all the required checkmarks, but it’s not necessarily something to drop jaws about as it’s a pretty straightforward approach, and for me personally too one sided. For slamheads however, it will be quickly evident that the Swedes are easily mastering their sonic domain.

Pink Floyd's supporting shows in 1980 and 1981 for Roger Waters' narcissistic, nihilistic epic The Wall are the stuff of rock & roll legend. Throughout the '70s, the band earned the reputation as one of the best live acts in rock & roll – and not just because they delivered musically but because they delivered a full-fledged show. They had model planes crashing into the stage, giant inflated pigs hovering around the arena and, of course, astonishing live shows. All of Floyd's showmanship culminated in The Wall, an album that wasn't only a story, it was designed to be a theatrical experience…

I have a number of CDs in Ben Van Oosten's complete recordings of Marcel Dupré and this is one of my favourites. The selection of pieces is varied and interesting, but it's the organ and quality of the recording that is most impressive. The Willis organ at St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin is a magnificent example of the best in British organ building, and the recording captures the power in a way that showcases some of Dupré's most interesting later works.

This CD features the great pianist Mary Lou Williams during her earliest period. She is heard in 1927 on six selections with The Synco Jazzers (a small group that included her then-husband John Williams on alto) and then on the first 19 selections ever recorded under her own name. Performed during the long period when she was the regular pianist with Andy Kirk's 12 Clouds of Joy, Williams is featured on two hot stride solos in 1930, leading trios in 1936 and 1938, playing "Little Joe from Chicago" unaccompanied in 1939 and heading septets in 1940; among her sidemen were trumpeter Harold "Shorty" Baker and the legendary tenor Dick Wilson. Many of the compositions were written by Williams including "Night Life," "New Froggy Bottom," "Mary's special," and "Scratchin' the Gravel;" her version of Jelly Roll Morton's "The Pearls" is a highpoint.

Recorded for Dutch radio, this is one of Chet Baker best live recordings. Live At Nick's is a very fine set, extermely well modulated, one of mere handful of albums from the last two decades of Chet's career that have to be considered essential.

Albatros is a Progressive rock band from Spain formed in 2000. The musicians make the listener get the most suggestive atmospheres through an epic journey full of distortion, melody and poetry. In 2008 they released their debut studio album "Pentadelia", where they managed to blend psychedelic influences, hard rock and progressive in a very interesting way.
"Ursus", published on the Musea Parallèle label in 2011, combines classic-rock ala Pink Floyd and Rush with Porcupine Tree modern sound and a spanish approach influenced by Triana. Albatros is flying high again. Would you like to go with them?
