Géza Anda set down his cycle of Mozart piano concertos, in which he also directed the Camerata Academica of the Salzburg Mozarteum, in the years 1961 and 1969. That his survey seldom has been out of the catalog in the intervening years attests eloquently enough to its qualities, and DG's decision to reissue the performances as part of its mid-priced Collectors Edition series will be warmly welcomed.

“Solitaire” is a concept album exploring the meaning of Resistance in liquid modern times. Written by Francesco Venti (solo guitar) and Sergio Manfredi (vocal and lyrics) for their own project called Alcàntara, it is a journey through space rock, progressive ballads and psychedelic blues.

2020 initially promised to be a busy year for Pete Jones, with an album already recorded in January and various gig commitments with Tiger Moth Tales, Red Bazar, Francis Dunnery's It Bites and his usual pub & club gigs. But, Covid-19 put paid to a lot of plans, as it did for most musicians. ‘Still Alive’ is Jones's take on the lockdown situation, and will no doubt appeal to the mixed emotions felt by many of us throughout these difficult times.

Kampfar is a black metal band formed in 1994 in Fredrikstad, Norway, by Dolk (Per-Joar Spydevold), as vocalist and drummer, and Thomas (Thomas Andreassen) as guitarist and bassist. ,,Kampfar'' (an archaic Norse battle cry meaning ,,Odin'') was formed when Dolk decided to quit his black metal band Mock (which ceased its activity until 2012, but is active today) and recruited Thomas, a musician with a folk background. Their joined forces resulted in an original, folk-influenced black metal sound, the perfect combination between black metal and folk. The EP from 1996 has (besides Kampfar and Hymne, two songs which are also on the Demo) a third song called Hjemkomsten.

Marshalling their strength after the dark interlude of Presence – a period that extended far after its 1976 release, with the band spending a year in tax exile and Robert Plant suffering another personal tragedy when his son died – Led Zeppelin decided to push into new sonic territory on their eighth album, In Through the Out Door. A good deal of this aural adventurism derived from internal tensions within the band…

This third volume of Lucky Millinder's complete works in chronological order brings together for the first time three Deccas from October 1947, 12 sides recorded for Victor between January and November 1949, and 12 titles waxed for the King label during the year 1950. Millinder is remembered as a shrewd bandleader who accurately assessed the prevailing trends in popular entertainment during the late '40s. His strategy seems to have involved a wide range of musical styles, a spectrum reflected in this grab bag compilation. Millinder clearly tailored the material to fit each record label and its assumed audience. Of course, Victor was selling to a more generalized public while King's clientele was predominately Afro-American. Listening through all 25 tracks is quite an experience…

Swedish veteran metallers IN FLAMES are celebrating two major milestones in 2020 with their 30th anniversary as a band and 20th anniversary of their seminal, critically acclaimed album "Clayman". Preceding the physical release of "Clayman 20th Anniversary Edition", IN FLAMES will digitally release the "Clayman 2020 EP" on July 24, which features the 2020 versions of "Only For The Weak", "Bullet Ride", "Pinball Map", "Clayman" and a new instrumental track, "Themes And Variations In D-Minor".

Just because it took them 13 years to deliver a studio sequel to their 1994 live album Hell Freezes Over, don't say it took the Eagles a long time to cash in on their reunion. They started cashing in almost immediately, driving up ticket prices into the stratosphere as they played gigs on a semi-regular basis well into the new millennium…

A prolific multi-instrumentalist, Klaus Schønning became one of Europe's most well-known new age artists during the 1980s. Schønning debuted in 1979 with Lydglimt, and soon began broadening the palate of electronic synthesizer music with deft orchestrations and a large array of instruments including harp, zither, dulcimer, bouzouki, glockenspiel, and many guitars. Nasavu, released in 1982, was an early touchstone in the continuing growth of new age music. Schønning recorded often throughout the 1980s, and debuted a four-part series of Symphodysse works in 1989.

Nectar Meditation is the debut collaboration from Steve Roach (synths) and Serena Gabriel (harmonium, voice, temple bells). The focus of their work together is to provide a potent, immersive and transcendent experience through the power of sound.
