Four years after 2016’s “Cleansed by Carnage”, Swedish death metal pack Volturyon returns with the fourth outing. A collection of 11 adrenaline pumped and testosterone filled short bangers span the 39 minutes of savagery entitled “Xenogenesis”. It’s a quick hint at the fact that this band likes to get right down to business. Their brutal/slam tinged take on death metal is not the most original but you can expect consistency and energy all the way through. For a record of this style, this album hits all the required checkmarks, but it’s not necessarily something to drop jaws about as it’s a pretty straightforward approach, and for me personally too one sided. For slamheads however, it will be quickly evident that the Swedes are easily mastering their sonic domain.
