The type of record you put on when you want the music to make you feel good, for a long time. Recorded in 1998 it's about as graceful as you can get, a descarga record that just grooves and grooves and grooves; five of the tunes are over nine minutes long. Bebo is on cruise control, his piano figures settling the mostly Spanish band into a groove, letting the soloists take their time. And his improvisations, they're the thing you wait for.

For the last 20 years London-based author and party organiser Tim Lawrence has dedicated himself to excavating the history of New York City party culture and bringing some of the most powerful aspects of that culture to London’s dance scene, from where it has ricocheted around the world.

Recovered from the depths of the Rory Gallagher archive comes ‘Cleveland Calling’ a previously unreleased radio session recorded at WNCR in Cleveland on August 7th,1972. This intimate 8-song acoustic session and interview with DJ Carolyn Thomas was found on a small 7” reel and will be released for the first time for Record Store Day 2020.

Six years since Finland's Lie in Ruin's last full-length (2014's Towards Divine Death), "Floating in Timeless Streams" sees a more streamlined approach from the band. While "Towards Divine Death" clocked in at 71 minutes of brutality, "Floating in Timeless Streams" trims some of that excess at just over 42 minutes without losing any of the impact. While "Floating…" continues to hone and highlight the band's tremendous guitar work by Roni Ärling and Tuomas Kulmala, the band has added the extremely talented Jussi-Pekka Manner (Corpsessed) on drums. Roni Sahari's (Desolate Shrine) vocals add the icing on the cake, making "Floating in Timeless Streams" the band's magnum opus and a top highlight of 2020. Finnish death metal's finest!

“The Hidden Man of the Heart” is most ambitious, grandiose and high-flying opus of the band at the present moment. It consists of 14 tracks and lasts 63 minutes. Various keyboards, guitars, bass, drums, flute and trumpet are supplemented by exotic kinds of percussion, mandolin, bass clarinet and even string quartet! It is that this album extremely emphasizes strange combination of memorable/hooking melodies and sophisticated compositional structures with complex system of leitmotivs. Such combination of “familiarity and weirdness” is one of the trademarks of ROZ VITALIS.

Written between 1909 and 1913, Préludes are probably Claude Debussy's most important work for piano. It consists in a series of 24 short pieces, equally subdivided into two books.Unlike Chopin's, Bach's and many other composer's homonymous series, these pieces aren't sorted by key signature. Debussy gave a title to all of the 24 preludes and decided to place them at the end of each piece. This choice is mainly addressed to the performer to encourage him to find his own interpretation but it also points out that it's the music here that will suggest the titles and not vice versa. Being certainly the peak of maturity in Debussy's musical experience, these pieces also carry the youthful energy of the author's early pieces. This combination of both aspects of Debussy's personal style gives this music an unique feature: here, music and dramaturgy express and support each other mutually, letting each idea unfold and develop achieving a brilliant balance between its strong inspiration sources and Debussy's consumate mastery of composing. Such quality is rarely to find in the repertoire of concert music, making Préludes a milestone for musicians of all sorts.

Welcome to the 30th Anniversary Special Edition of The Beloved’s debut studio album ‘Happiness’. Containing the pioneering dance duo’s breakthrough hits ‘Hello’, ‘The Sun Rising’, and ‘Your Love Takes Me Higher’, ‘Happiness’ was originally released in February 1990 on East West. This album has been remastered from the original analogue studio masters (by John Davis at Metropolis Studios) and has a significantly louder and clearer audio than the original release. This release also includes ‘The Wolf Studio Recordings’, a 15 extra tracks Happiness demos, B-sides, remixes and four previously unreleased songs recorded at Wolf Studios in Brixton between 1988 – 1990.

Hand in Hand is the latest release from Belgium based duo Ivan Paduart and Patrick Deltenre. According to the press release that accompanied this album, the album title Hand in Hand “…contains two meanings. Firstly, of course, it reflects the artists’ collaboration as a duo; two creative individuals pursuing a musical goal together. Secondly, it is the combination of two harmonic instruments; their sounds are interwoven in such a way that individuality is maintained, while at the same time, a genuine dialogue is created rather than simple musical duplication.” On first listening, I would have to agree with this statement and to continue the analogy I would go so far as saying that these musicians fit together like a “hand in glove”.

The roots of the Franconian organ builder Johann Christoph Wiegleb are to be found in Thuringia. Surpassing even the achievements of Tobias Heinrich Gottfried Trost with his organs in Altenburg and Waltershausen, Wiegleb broke new ground with his great organ in Ansbach, now fully reconstructed (1738/2007). The abundance and fine differentiation of the foundation stops allow incredible combinations and prefigure the Romantic era with their wealth of tone colour; furthermore, Wiegleb built the first swell-box into a German organ. At about the same time in Leipzig, Bach was reworking eighteen chorale settings that he had composed much earlier. That is of course a coincidence – and yet an interesting example of how this fertile period of organ writing witnessed compositional ideas and soundscapes in a constant state of flux. Registrations were not noted down in Germany at the time, indicating an individual approach to organ sound. Joyous experimentation with colourful stop combinations is reported of Bach himself: in his Bach biography (Leipzig, 1802), Johann Nikolaus Forkel describes Bach’s “peculiar manner, with which he associated the different voices of the Organ with one another (…) It was so unusual, that many organ builders and organists were shocked, when they saw him choosing stops, (…) but were most amazed, when they later observed that the Organ sounded best just so, and had now acquired something strange and unaccustomed.”

Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco was one of the most successful and remarkable composers of the first half of the 20th century in Italy. His style is influenced by Neo-Classicism, vivid, brilliant, with the occasional odd dissonance, strongly rhythmical and full of catchy melodies. He fled Anti-semitism before WWO2, and settled in Hollywood where he successfully composed film music for more than 200 films.This new recording presents a selection of chamber music for clarinet, violin, cello and piano, in various combinations: the most substantial is the Piano Trio Op. 70, also featured are the Clarinet Sonata, the Cello Sonata Op. 50 and Pastorale and Rondo, Op. 185 for all 4 instruments. Evocative, dream-like and melancholy music alternates with exciting, rhythmically driven dances.Played with feeling and conviction by the Ensemble Italiano, with Mauro Tortorelli (violin) Pierluigi Bernard (clarinet), Massimo Macrì (cello) and Angela Meluso (piano).This ensemble previously issued a recording of Castelnuovo- Tedesco with the complete works for violin and piano (BC 95642).

Just released, 15 years after Don Cherry's death, and 45 years after the release of the original "Complete Communion", this French band gives its interpretation of the suite, on the initiative of master drummer Aldo Romano, with master bassist Henri Texier on bass, and with a young horn front with Géraldine Laurent on sax and Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet.
