This CD is quite a bit different than most audiophile releases for it contains rare rather than famous recordings. 1959's The Fourth Herd (which features an all-star group of studio musicians and Woody Herman alumni along with his octet of the time) was only put out briefly by Jazzland while the music on 1962's The New World of Woody Herman was never available commercially before; both were originally cut for the SESAC Transcribed Library and were available only to selected radio stations on a subscription basis…

Duke Ellington called his music "American Music" rather than jazz, and liked to describe those who impressed him as "beyond category. He remains one of the most influential figures in jazz, if not in all American music and is widely considered as one of the twentieth century's best known African American personalites. As both a composer and a band leader, Ellington's reputation has increased since his death, with thematic repackagings of his signature music often becoming best-sellers. Posthumous recognition of his work include a special award citation from the Pulitzer Prize Board.

This three-leaf clover met as members of Max Greger Sr. his orchestra in the early 70's. Greger junior previously studied at the Munich Academy of Music and was a fan of Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock and McCoy Tyner. Over the years, he has even played with international jazz greats such as Ack van Rooyen, Benny Bailey and Herb Geller (and wasted his time with schmaltz-delivering Peter Herbolzheimer and Udo Jürgens). The Swiss Charly Antolini studied in his hometown of Zurich and has over the years played with Wolfgang Dauner, Barbara Dennerlein, Art Farmer, Dusko Goykovich, Albert Mangelsdorf, Nils Henning Ørsted Pedersen, Baden Powell and a number of others. Milan Pilar first studied at home in Prague and later in Munich.

Jack Dupon is a progressive rock band consisting of two guitars, drums, bass, percussion and singing. The music is almost impossible to describe, but Jack Dupon performs a delirious music, full of humour and rhythm, dynamic, giving free way to the imagination. Jack Dupon is primarily a live band communicating a lot through music, but also by their personal universe which really comes through at performances. This adds a higher human dimension, which is mostly felt by the public. An opportunity then appears: let experimental music emerge from the shadows, in order to discover a new landscape remaining accessible to everyone. And this perhaps corresponds to an expectation, even a desire to offer an alternative to formatted music…

Modula Green is a collaboration between redruM and Mark P. (Peter Prochir and Mark Pfurtscheller), who created eerie, hypnotic experimental music in the 1990s. A Fax release which remains in relative obscurity, "Shellground" is an excellent, underappreciated ambient techno album. It's filled with layered organic sounds and deep, enigmatic synth-lines, along with tribal-influenced drum programming. It all makes for a grade A level ambient techno record. It is every bit as good as some recognized classics.

The 2020 deluxe edition features Pete Townshend’s remix of Beads On One String plus The Who Live at Kingston, a special acoustic performance recorded on 14th February 2020, recorded 50 years to the day since the seminal Live at Leeds show.

The Mass in B Minor, Bach's last completed vocal work as well as the climax of his creativity, reveals the overwhelming wealth of his compositional skills. In the history of music it ranks highly, as the "Montblanc of church music" (Franz Liszt) composed during Bach's time as cantor at the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig. Performed in this important composer's domain, the Mass in B Minor casted a spell over its listeners as the crowning glory of the Leipzig Bach Festival in 2013: Under the direction of Bach's successor Georg Christoph Biller, the St. Thomas Boys Choir and an outstanding soloist quintet perform with the prestigious Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, playing on authentic period instruments.

The Avenger is the second full-length studio album by Swedish death metal band Amon Amarth, released by Metal Blade Records on September 2, 1999. It was the first Amon Amarth album with guitarist Johan Söderberg and drummer Fredrik Andersson, Thus completing the line-up that remained up until 2015, following Andersson's departure from the band. It was also released as a digipak version, containing a bonus track "Thor Arise", a re-recording of the title track from their first demo, Thor Arise.
