Gear Fab's excavation of the recorded history of Greenwich Village folkie Chris Wilson continued apace with this follow-up to The Grey Wizard Am I (itself reissued three years earlier by the archival label). You needn't be a total sci-fi/fantasy dork to enjoy that 1972-vintage album, though it certainly doesn't hurt. Those with less esoteric – okay, less geeky – tastes, on the other hand, probably felt the Tolkien-themed lyricism was more than a little bit twee and precious. Even more well-adjusted, down-to-earth listeners, however, might find themselves charmed by parts of The Tin Angel. Firstly, the music itself is more diverse and, consequently, has a far broader appeal. Secondly, there is nary a wizard hat or hobbit in sight.

The Boston Horns are an electrifying funk/soul/R&B group featuring the hottest musicians from the Boston area. The band was founded in 1999 by Henley Douglas Jr. (sax) and Garret Savluk (trumpet), former frontmen of Heavy Metal Horns.

Jazz bassist Carles Benavent and guitarist Josemi Carmona have combined talents for Nuevos Medios release Sumando, remaking the fusion of jazz and flamenco into some bright and breezy. Composing and performing most of the instrumentation of Sumando‘s nine tracks, Benavent and Carmona weave flamenco rhythms and tight, neat guitar work with some dreamy jazz themes to create a soulful mix.

The Pixies are associated with the 1990s alternative rock boom, and draw on elements including punk rock and surf rock. Their music is known for its dynamic "loud-quiet" shifts and song structures. Francis is the Pixies' primary songwriter; his often surreal lyrics cover offbeat subjects such as extraterrestrials, incest, and biblical violence. They achieved modest popularity in the US, but were more successful in Europe. Their jarring pop sound influenced acts such as Nirvana, Radiohead, the Smashing Pumpkins and Weezer. Their popularity grew in the years after their break-up, leading to sold-out world tours following their reunion in 2004.

Nueva Manteca creates a synergy between Cuban music and Jazz music “pur sang”. The group is not “just another good latin jazz band” as there are so many these last few years, they are unique in performance, style and repertoire. Their – mostly own – arrangements and compositions show inventively, creativity and most all a musical spirit that’s really something!

This delightful project features altoist Paquito D'Rivera mostly playing clarinet in a trio with cellist Mark Summer and pianist Alon Yavnai. Although their set includes originals by all three musicians, the music overall is as strongly influenced by Cuban folk music and classical themes as by jazz. D'Rivera clearly enjoys mixing together the different idioms to create new and fresh music that is filled with the spirit and joy of his brand of jazz. The versatility of the three musicians is even more impressive than their inventive repertoire, making this a unique and highly recommended item in Paquito D'Rivera's extensive discography.

Infernal Eternal is the second live album by Swedish black metal band Marduk. It was recorded in France during the World Panzer Battle tour and released on November 14, 2000 by Regain Records.

In January 1985, Chet performed a gig in Dallas, Texas with Fred Raulston's talented band featuring Martha Burke on vocals. The band also met the next day in the studio to record Would You Believe? The live date was issued on three LP's/CD's: My Foolish Heart, Misty, and Time After Time. Misty offers some great moments as well as some forgettable ones. He mumbles through When I Fall in Love and stumbles through Mr. B. However in a swinging take on Misty (featuring a lively vocal by Burks) he starts slow, but is blowing loud and high by the end. I Love My Wife is credited as a Baker composition, and is a sweet little tune, even though Ralston and Darling get most of the solos.

My Chopin “Heroic Polonaise” is for you!To thank the fabulous “Prodiges” which gave me this opportunity, I thought of representing the other categories of Singing and Dance which “Prodiges” wonderfully unites. Thus, I include Verdi’s “Rigoletto” Opera paraphrased by Liszt and Tchaikovsky’s “Pas de Deux” from the Nutcracker Ballet, as all forms of art are connected through our senses.”

Mississippi Shakedown, is an Australian blues rock band from Sydney, Australia, they play with a blues inspired sound that is heavily driven by slide guitar. The band takes a lot of influence from early southern blues musicians as can be seen from their debut self-titled album that features amongst other things an Elmore James record.

Questioned about the origins of the project, David Gedge of The Wedding Present said: "Where do ideas like this come from? Well, I can tell you that this one was born during a soundcheck in New Zealand, in 2013, when the band were playing around with the main melody of the classic Bond theme 'You Only Live Twice'. We decided then that, one day, we should probably attempt to cover this amazing song. We ended up doing just that dur-ing the recording sessions for our 'Going, Going' album in Studios La Fabrique (Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, France). And that was that. For a while, anyway. During a later tour, drummer Charles Layton was driving the van and I was sitting in the front passenger seat. On journeys like these Charlie would often plant little seeds of ideas into my mind, knowing that I would go away, think about it, and then return with some kind of master plan.
