After literally years of rumours and promises Neil Young has announced firm release date for the second volume of his Archives series and made available a full track listing. The ten-disc set features 12 songs that have never been released before and 50 previously unreleased versions of songs. The discs are themed into eras (the 1974 disc, which features On The Beach material, is called Walk On, for example) and three discs have been previously released in their entirety (Roxy: Tonight’s The Night Live, Tuscaloosa and Homegrown).

Limboland sees the quintet as raw and incendiary as they have ever been, with their rare combination of classic rock, punk rock and Celtic rock stylings coming together for an experience that is vibrant, high energy and memorable, alongside lyrics that should incite deeper thinking and possibly even some positive action.

Magnetic Works confirms keyboardist and composer Jon Balke as one of the most important and eclectic voices of Norwegian jazz. Collecting tracks from two ECM albums and nine of ten tracks from the long out-of-print Solarized (originally released in 1999 on the EmArcy label), this 2-CD set is an instant archival gem. In his liner note for the compilation, Balke describes the music he played with his influential Magnetic North Orchestra as having been “written to allow the individual musicians to enter an optimal playground for their expressivity.” Achieving this was no small feat, but listening to these musicians negotiate their personalities by way of the group’s collective distribution promises fascination for the Balke fan and newcomer alike.

Recorded in 1962 with most of the same band that made Soul Clinic, Hank Crawford turns in a simmering, deep soul performance that draws in equal parts from Ray Charles' R&B, James Moody's blues and Duke Ellington's swing. Accompanied by Texas tenor giant David "Fathead" Newman, baritone saxophonist Leroy Cooper, trumpeters John Hunt and Phil Guilbeau, bassist Edgar Willis and drummer Bruno Carr (with Sonny Forrest on guitar on three tracks), Crawford follows the soul-blues Muse into the night on this set.
