Dudley Taft grew up in the American Midwest, where he learned the values of friendship, roots blues, rock 'n' roll and a good ear of corn. With a background that includes Berklee College of Music as well as years touring with rock bands Sweet Water and Second Coming, Dudley is a thinking man’s blues rocker. There’s plenty of swagger here, but also the sensitivity of a thoughtful songwriter. In his music you’ll hear delta roots mingling with Seattle grunge, a southern twang with a high-octane crunch. Dudley was nominated “Best Guitarist” by the European Blues Awards in 2017.

The Cello Concerto in B minor, Op. 104, B. 191, is the last solo concerto by Antonín Dvořák. It was written in 1894 for his friend, the cellist Hanuš Wihan, but was premiered by the English cellist Leo Stern. The Piano Trio No. 4 in E minor, Op. 90, B. 166, (also called Dumky trio from the subtitle Dumky) is a composition by Antonín Dvořák for piano, violin and cello. It is among the composer's best-known works. At the same time it is a prominent example for a piece of chamber music deviating strongly from the customary form of classical chamber music – both in terms of the number of movements and of their formal construction.

SBB is one of the most important Polish bands of the seventies. This band, rightfully listed in the eclectic progressive genre, mainly plays a hybrid of symphonic prog, space/atmospheric prog and fusion.

Recorded in two separate sessions, one in New Orleans and
 the other in Denver a few months later, Renewable Energy 
expands on the NMS template while still providing plenty of
 the band’s trademark sounds. Guitarist Eddie Roberts, 
drummer Simon Allen, bassist Pete Shand and keyboardist 
Joe Tatton are joined on this 12-track effort by a number of
 guests: Sam Bell, one of the founding members 
of NMS precursor The Mastersounds plays percussion on most
 of the tracks.

One of the most remarkable things about guitar hero Phil Upchurch's output from 1961 to the present day is that it's remarkably consistent. No matter the style, whether it is R&B, soul, jazz, blues, funk, rock, or smooth jazz, he's on it and in it. This date from 1995 is no exception. Upchurch teams up with Ben Sidran – who acts as both producer and vocalist – for a remarkably tasty and mellow date of shimmering jazz and contemporary soul.

Liszt will probably always be thought of as the greatest pianist who has ever lived, and his works for piano are undoubtedly among the most virtuosic to have been written. On this disc Daniel Barenboim explores the vast emotional range of Liszt’s piano music, from the most delicate chiaroscuro through to the most ominously dramatic climax. São Paulo Underground's second Cuneiform release, 2013's Beija Flors Velho e Sujo, translates as Old and Dirty Hummingbirds – a rather contradictory title but an appropriate one for an album melding the nimble with the lowdown (and the abstract and trippily disorienting). Now solidified into the trio of Rob Mazurek (cornet, Evolver, ring modulator, analog delay, harmonium), Mauricio Takara (percussion, cavaquinho, electronics), and Guilherme Granado (keyboards, synthesizer, sampler, voice), São Paulo Underground take listeners on a kaleidoscopic journey across the album's ten tracks, which were trotted out during a 2012 U.S.-Canadian tour before being recorded and mixed in Chicago – with deep sonic manipulation – for inclusion here.

Viikate will release his thirteenth studio album on October 2, 2020. "Rillumarei!" the album bearing the name contains ten lushly dancing guitar works, of which the band itself is surprised. Soloist K, reached under a fairytale-like fly agaric, describes the album as follows: “Rillumarei! strikes his spotlight into the mirror ball of emotions in a way Viikate has never done before. The major is longing, the minor hilarious, and the guitars play fresher and more jerky than ever before in our basic rigid action. On the text side, the main theme was the idea that if the time of innocence becomes flawed, the term rillumarei will also appear in a new light. In all of us powder mirrors. In this sense, we are closest to the theme album in Viikatte's recorded history. ”

With longtime bassist Steve Swallow, the return of drummer Roy Haynes, and the debut of guitarist Jerry Hahn, Gary Burton's second quartet continued his open-minded policy toward other styles of music. In addition to both melodic and advanced jazz, Burton incorporates elements of country, rock, pop and even classical music on this fairly rare LP, Country Roads and Other Places. Whether it be a "Ravel Prelude," "Wichita Breakdown" or "My Foolish Heart," the music is full of logical surprises that foreshadow the eclectic nature of much of '80s and '90s jazz.

The mezzo-soprano Elena De Simone and the Ensemble Il Mosaico are the interpreters of this production that continues the journey of Tactus in the precious rediscovery of various female characters forgotten by history, that played a fundamental role in the cultural and musical panorama of their time. One of these cases concerns the Milanese Maria Teresa Agnesi, a precocious musician and composer - she starts writing music and performing in the academies of her city already at an early age - who dedicated her works to the major political authorities of her world.

Lee Konitz revived his nonet for the occasion of this 1979 concert, with trumpeters Red Rodney and John Eckert, baritonist Ronnie Cuber, trombonist Jimmy Knepper, and tuba player/bass trombonist Sam Burtis joining him in the front line. Lennie Tristano's "April," a challenging reworking of the standard "I'll Remember April," proves to be an inspired opener, with great solos all around. Knepper's blues "Who You" has the flavor of Charles Mingus' early-'60s compositions.

The historic Eric Dolphy/Booker Little quintet that helped to change the face of mainstream modern jazz has a second volume of their legendary live performances at the Five Spot Cafe issued, including two previously unreleased bonus tracks from the original LP. This release is further proof why this ensemble was an important stylistic bridge between the Ornette Coleman and John Coltrane quartets. The incredibly visceral, extroverted sound Dolphy extracts from his alto sax, flute, and especially bass clarinet is something to behold, while the rest of the group follows suit in supporting the wayward notions of their leader while not standing in perhaps the shock and awe of him, as were the patrons in attendance must have been that night.
