Brasil was The Manhattan Transfer's tenth album.This album was a new foray for the group into Brazilian music. During the recording sessions they worked with many songwriters, including Ivan Lins, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, and Atlantic records Jazz recording artist Gilberto Gil. After the initial recording sessions, the songs were re-arranged and then fitted with English lyrics. This album won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

This album features members of the Catalytic Sound collective, a musicians' co-op with the mission of developing new economic models for experimental musicians.

John Coltrane's "Live At The Half Note" on the Laserlight label is an excellent look at what is arguably jazz's greatest quartet - the "Classic Quartet" of Trane, McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones - in an intimate club setting. It is during performances like these, where Coltrane had the ability to stretch out and play at length, improvising and creating on the spur of the moment, that he further developed his signature, searching style.

For the first time in nearly five years, Virginia-based metal outfit Lamb of God is set to release a brand-new album. The album will serve as Lamb of God’s eighth studio effort overall and its first since 2015’s critically acclaimed VII: Sturm und Drang.

North American Latin jazz audiences were knocked out when this LP came out, for it was the first idea many of us had of the explosive power of this Cuban jazz/rock band, which had been let briefly out of Cuba to tour. Columbia taped them live at New York's Newport Festival and Switzerland's Montreux Jazz Festival, and the result was a noisy, ambitious, frenzied, tremendously exciting mixture of everything but the kitchen sink. Co-founder, keyboardist and arranger Chucho Valdes was as thoroughly attuned to the thumping electric bass, the careening buzz of a synthesizer and bell-like electric piano as he was to his homeland's complex rhythms and his own classical training – and despite the cultural embargo, the 11-piece group was in touch with then-current developments in American jazz/rock.

The story of "Epidaurus - …endangered" starts at this moment when the production for "Earthly paradise" (1977) was finished: the original band members drift apart by several incidents in order to meet again and again in the following years. Finally 17 years later, they re-form to play their music again, supported by some new musicians.

Born in Granada in 1983, Sergio Pamies is one of the most promising young Spanish musicians of the present day. The album begins with “Borrachito” (“Tipsy”), the title song of the disc, allowing the key of the very personal synthesis of jazz and flamenco to enter, a synthesis that characterizes this artist. The song is a very catchy one in which the piano improvisation supports the subtle and exciting background of hand clapping, cajón, and drums. The elegant voice of José Cortés “The Pirate” creates a perfect counterpoint that finishes with an exhilarating celebration by way of the “bulerías”: “borrachito, borrachito/ tu amor a mí me tiene borrachito” (“Tipsy, tipsy/ your love has got me tipsy”).

Barry Eugene Carter (September 12, 1944 – July 4, 2003), better known by his stage name Barry White, was an American singer-songwriter, musician, record producer and composer. 35 track double CD compilation.

The billing (Irakere "featuring Chucho Valdés") illustrates what a draw the leader-pianist Valdés has become in his own right, and Yemayá does indeed showcase his prodigious talents as a keyboardist, albeit on an electro-acoustic instrument and with a set designed as much for the American jazz audience as for his Cuban roots. The opening title cut with Valdés's sister Mayra Caridad on vocals is a killer Latin-soul-jazz workout, while track 2, with blistering solo work from Valdés over a crisp, percussion-led rhythm, sets the tone for the remaining seven extended cuts. This is not so much Cuban music as jazz with a Latin base–complex, disciplined, but swinging hard. Yemayá represents a new phase for Irakere and is Latin Jazz of the highest caliber, full of virtuosity and passion.
