Yet it is very important – where there is dancing, there must also be music. In the oldest depictions, dating back to the end of the Middle Ages, it is Death that plays an instrument. Interestingly, it is a wind instrument, such as a flute or bagpipes, or a percussion instrument.

Squirrel Nut Zippers had the good fortune to make it to the big leagues at the same time the swing revival of the 1990s crested. Although the group's roots stretched far beyond the Rat Pack – they were informed by New Orleans jazz, hot dance music, Harlem jazz, and other jumping music of prewar America – they nevertheless benefited from the lounge revival, which helped lift their 1996 album, Hot, and its accompanying single, "Hell," into the Billboard charts. Squirrel Nut Zippers kept touring into the early 2000s, after which they went on hiatus. Leader Jimbo Mathus revived the group in 2008 for a live album but it wasn't until 2018 that they released a new album, Beasts of Burgundy.

Dutton Vocalion reissue of two albums recorded by percussionist Airto Moreira for the CTI label in April 1973 "Fingers", a flawless studio session cut at Van Gelder Studios in Englewood Cliffs, and "Deodato/Airto In Concert," taped live on April 20, 1973 at the Felt Forum of the Madison Square Garden Center in New York City, NY, but released only one year later in truncated form. This Multichannel SACD release features the original 1970s Quadraphonic mixes of both albums, available commercially for the first time in over 40 years.
