"Lonely And Blue" is Roy Orbison's first album, released in January 1961. The album was not only a breakthrough for Orbison as his debut LP, but also for rock 'n' roll. Up to that point, apart from Elvis Presley - who was in a class by himself - few white rock 'n' rollers had even tried to make as bold a use of the LP as what we hear on this record.

Roy Orbison's second album features swooping strings and full vocal choruses. With such tracks as "Love Hurts", the title track and the epic hit "Running Scared", most of the cuts lean toward Orbinson's more sentimental side. On the up-tempo side are "Nite Life" and "Let's Make A Memory", with its bouncing string arrangement.

"In Dreams" is the third record from Roy Orbison on Mounument Records, recorded at its studio in Hendersonville, Tennessee and released in 1963. The album is named for the 45-RPM single. In 2004, Rolling Stone named the song "In Dreams" one of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Half of the cuts on In Dreams were recorded during the sessions for Lonely And Blue. Orbison's voice was never better than on this recording. The heights he reaches on "Lonely Wine", the swaggering country and R&B of "Blue Avenue" and "My Prayer" are simply mind-blowing. This is a must-have from the original two-track master and cut on an all-tube cutting system by Bernie Grundman.

Dickey Betts & Great Southern is the second studio album by Dickey Betts of The Allman Brothers Band. It was recorded with his band Great Southern in 1977. The standout tracks are "Sweet Virginia" and the extended-jam "Bougainvillea", which was co-written by Don Johnson.

In November 2016, I had the rare privilege of performing my original material with a live band, at a concert for a select audience at Cape Town's iconic Milestone Studios. The band, MeaCulpa, comprising of Jose Jordaan and Murray Anderson on guitars, Roger Lloyd on drums, and Brian Lloyd on bass and some vocals, paid extraordinary attention to detail on my tracks, and added an energy to the pieces that only a live band can. The recordings are authentically live, mistakes and all, and there was no post-production fixing or editing, save the brilliant mixing by the studio's in house engineer at the time, Jethro Harris.
