"We're an American Band" is the beloved 1973 classic by Grand Funk. Their genre-bending blend of funk, heavy rock and boogie led to their emergence as one of music’s most iconic rock bands. The album would be certified Platinum by the RIAA and includes the band’s massive hit singles “We’re an American Band” and “Walk Like a Man”. This album included on the National Association of Recording Merchandisers’ “Definitive 200 Albums of All Time”.

Produced by Terry Knight, the album reached RIAA gold record status in 1970, making it Grand Funk's third gold record in one year. "Closer to Home" was the album that really helped Grand Funk Railroad break through to a level of commercial success that put them on the same level as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath.

My Blueberry Nights is notable not only as the first English-language film by director Wong Kar Wai but also for the acting debut of Norah Jones. It's surprising, then, that the soundtrack only includes one song from Jones, "The Story," the only new song on the set and one that Jones has stated reflects her doubts about becoming an actress. It's not appreciably different than anything else Jones has recorded to this point, a slow, jazzy ballad featuring her moody vocals and piano in a trio setting. As for the rest, it's an appealing mix of R&B (Mavis Staples, Ruth Brown, Otis Redding), jazz (Cassandra Wilson), a couple of Cat Power tunes, and the ubiquitous Ry Cooder, who always makes any soundtrack worth a listen.

Seven Steps to Heaven is the eighth studio album on Columbia Records by jazz musician Miles Davis, released in 1963. Recorded at Columbia's 30th Street Studios in Manhattan, and at Columbia Studios in Los Angeles, it presents the Miles Davis Quintet in transition.

Throughout his career, mandolinist David Grisman has performed music that crosses between many boundaries, from "new acoustic" folk to bluegrass and swing-oriented jazz. This set features Grisman's string group (which also includes violinist Darol Anger, Mike Marshall on mandolin, guitar and violin, Mark O'Connor on violin and guitar, and bassist Rob Wasserman) playing six of Grisman's diverse originals, an obscure tune, and a brief rendition of John Coltrane's "Naima." The music is excellent, but Grisman's more jazz-oriented projects would be in the future.

This remarkable audiophile recording pairs together two of jazz’s most legendary players, pianist Bill Evans and harmonica player Toots Thielemans. The duo’s luscious and harmonious performance can be enjoyed on breath-taking covers of Paul Simon’s “I Do It For Your Love” and Michel Legrand’s “The Other Side of Tonight”, as well as on two jazz standards “Body & Soul” and “Blue and Green”. The album would be the final studio recording to feature Evans on electric piano and is a must-have album.
