Ray Charles and Betty Carter is a 1961 album by Betty Carter and Ray Charles. The pair's recording of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" on the album topped the R&B charts.

Recorded for Riverside, this set mostly features the influential pianist Wynton Kelly in a trio with his fellow rhythm-section mates from the Miles Davis bands, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Jimmy Cobb. "Kelly Blue" and "Keep It Moving" add cornetist Nat Adderley, flutist Bobby Jaspar and the tenor of Benny Golson to the band for some variety. Kelly was renowned as an accompanist, but as he shows on a set including three of his originals and four familiar standards (including "Softly, As in a Morning Sunrise" and "Willow Weep for Me"), he was also a strong bop-based soloist too. A fine example of his talents.

Double Vision is a 1986 album by Bob James and David Sanborn. The album was a successful smooth jazz release receiving frequent airplay. The album spent 63 weeks on the Billboard charts, topping out at #50 on the Billboard 200.

"Newport '61" is a live album by Quincy Jones that was recorded on July 3, 1961 at the Newport Jazz Festival. With trumpeter Joe Newman, altoist Phil Woods, trombonist Curtis Fuller and tenor man Eric Dixon as key soloists, this ensemble could hold its own with most of its contemporaries. Jones' arrangements were colorful and distinctive, and the musicianship of the orchestra was quite impressive.

"Jazz Abroad" is a split album by American jazz drummer Roy Haynes and Quincy Jones with tracks recorded in Sweden in 1953 and 1954. Jazz Abroad indicates decisively that men like Quincy Jones, Roy Haynes and their confreres are musically at ease in the company of such distinguished Swedish contemporaries as are heard with them here.

The Partitas were a display of Bach’s mastery at its finest. Firstly, there is a remarkable line of continuity to unite the six suites, helped largely by an overarching tonal structure, which forms a sequence of tonalities that go up and then down by increasing amounts. The work starts in B flat major, going up a second to C, then descending a third to A, and so on and so forth. Bach also thinks beyond the Partitas, allowing the sequence to continue from the first part of the Clavierübung to the second part, the Italian Concerto starting in F and the French Overture in B natural (H in German), neatly using up all eight notes in the German musical letter scale.

Baroque lute music is fused with elements of flamenco, jacaras, fandangos and other Spanish dances and immersed in new colours with oriental rhythms and many elements of improvisation. Spanish guitarist and composer Rafael Catala specialises in the guitar music of his homeland, which in turn is characterised by influences from a wide range of Oriental and Occidental styles. This melting pot of cultures can also be felt in his new CD mare nostrum with his ensemble Musica Iberica. The ensemble has an unusual line-up, as the guitar is joined by oriental frame drums, the Swedish nyckelharpa (a keyboard fiddle) and a baroque violone (the predecessor of the double bass).

Clinton's 1974 fourth album release was If You Loved Her That Way, which features a collection of country classics alongside sprinklings of RnB, as sampled on Bill Wither's "Lean On Me".

Prima Facie is delighted to present Handel Remembered, a rare recording of piano pieces inspired not by JS Bach, but by his great contemporary George Frideric Handel, and played by Kenneth Hamilton, whose remarkable series of Liszt CDs have garnered such exceptional critical acclaim. Though the album features a little Liszt (the Sarabande and Chaconne from Handel's Almira), its climax is a commanding performance of Brahms' magisterial Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel. Baroque tribute pieces by Mozart and Beethoven precede the Brahms, as do Handel transcriptions by Charles Valentin Alkan, Wilhelm Kempff and Percy Grainger. The album ends with two "encores": Brahms' elegant arrangement of a Gavotte by Gluck, and Grainger's uproarious Handel in the Strand.

Three songs from 2020’s Letter To You: “Ghosts,” “Last Man Standing,” and “I’ll See You in My Dreams.” “Last Man Standing” features a new arrangement. “I’ll See You In My Dreams” is performed solo acoustic to end the show. One song from 2022’s Only the Strong Survive: “Nightshift” (written by Franne Golde, Dennis Lambert and Walter Orange, popularized by The Commodores). Concert stalwarts like “Because The Night,” “Dancing in the Dark,” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” are performed in tighter, shorter versions. “Thunder Road” is the main-set closer.
