Cantate Domino, recorded by legendary sound engineer Bertil Alving in 1976, is widely regarded as one of the greatest audiophile masterpieces ever recorded. Opening with Enrico Bossi's "Cantate Domino" for choir, organ, trumpets and trombones, the choral album includes a number of Swedish folk songs as well as pieces by Handel, Otto Olsson, and others. The famous reference record is now made even better with this audiophile SACD release.

Originally released in early 1963, Monk's Dream was the first Thelonious Monk album for Columbia. At the time this was recorded (fist sessions on Halloween, 1962), he had become one of the preeminent figures in contemporary jazz. His move to Columbia put him in the company of a couple of the era's other major talents and commercial successes, Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck, and his quartet was stabilized for a couple years with tenor saxophonist Charlie Rouse (with him since 1958), bassist John Ore, and drummer Frankie Dunlop.r-celebrated in its day, Monk's Dream is rich with the confidence of a band at its peak.

After George Gulyás recent records, including the critically acclaimed "Complete Lute Works for guitar" on Proprius/Naxos is now a new release entirely dedicated to music by Benjamin Britten. All the works in which the guitar is included with and performed together with the mezzo-soprano Ivonne Fuchs. On the album presents a solo piece Nocturnal op 70, one of the guitar literature's most important works. The piece reflects the various stages of insomnia, where the ambiguous theme of John Dowland, Come heavy sleep, hint at how sleep, or death, finally enters as a liberator.

Little known in the West and in the former USSR, the name of Weinberg, the third great Russian composer of the 20th century, after Prokofiev and Shostakovich, seems to be slowly emerging from the shadow of the latter, his protector and friend. Far from being an epigone, he is rather, by his temperament as a symphonist and the importance of his chamber music, the spiritual heir. This part of his vast catalogue, not written to put food on the table, includes 17 quartets, the most experimental body of his work along with his sonatas, those for cello, written with Rostropovich in mind, being henceforth consecrated.

Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds is pop's best melodic writer since the heyday of Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney. On The Day, Babyface makes that connection explicit by cowriting "How Come, How Long" with Wonder, who also contributes a duet vocal, a harmonica solo, and longtime bassist Nathan East to the session. Quadrophenia is the sixth studio album by the English rock band The Who, released as a double album in October 1973 by Track Records. It is the group's second rock opera. Set in London and Brighton in 1965, the story follows a young mod named Jimmy and his search for self-worth and importance. Quadrophenia is the only Who album entirely composed by Pete Townshend. This Japanese SHM-SACD reissue uses the 2012 DSD master based on UK original analog tape.

Exile on Main St. is a studio album by English rock band the Rolling Stones. It was first released as a double album on May 12, 1972 by Rolling Stones Records and was the band's tenth studio album released in the United Kingdom. The tracks were recorded in 1969 and 1970 at Olympic Studios and Jagger's Stargroves country house in England during sessions for Sticky Fingers, and in the summer of 1971 at a rented villa named Nellcôte in the south of France. Guitarist Keith Richards had rented the villa to live in while the band lived abroad as tax exiles.

Giant Steps is the fifth studio album by jazz musician John Coltrane as leader, released in January 1960 on Atlantic Records. This was his first album as leader for his new label Atlantic Records. Many of its tracks have become practice templates for jazz saxophonists. In 2004, it was one of fifty recordings chosen that year by the Library of Congress to be added to the National Recording Registry.
