The tenor sound of Seamus Blake is always a treat – and he really stretches out here on a set of long, live tracks with a great group! Most titles go way past the ten minute mark, and the always-inventive Blake manages to make plenty happen with all that time – working deftly in a group that features piano from David Kikoski, and some great guitar interplay with Lage Lund – whose tones ring out strongly on the lead of most tracks! Titles include "Fear Of Rooming", "Amuse Bouche", "Consequence", and "Subterfuge".

Fool for the City is the fifth album released by English rock band Foghat. This was their first platinum album and features, along with the title track, their signature song "Slow Ride". The album cover shows drummer Roger Earl sitting alone on a soap box fishing down a manhole in the middle of East 11th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenue) in New York City.

Jimmy D. Lane is an American electric blues guitarist. Lane's music has been likened to that of Stevie Ray Vaughan, whose former band Double Trouble played with him on the 2004 album It's Time. Other's have compared Lane's guitar work with that of Corey Stevens, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Healey.

Chicago's Black Diamond debuts on We Jazz Records with their new album Furniture Of the Mind Rearranging on 5th July. Co-led by Artie Black and Hunter Diamond (composers, saxophones, and other woodwinds), Black Diamond appears in both quartet and duo formations. The first three album sides present the quartet, complete with long standing band members Matt Ulery (double bass) and Neil Hemphill (drums), under the heading Furniture Of the Mind. The remaining two tracks on side D fall under the title The Mind Rearranging, with Black and Diamond presenting a meditative duo encounter of two tenor saxophones.

As drummer Alex Kautz sees it, there are two parts to his musical brain: the Brazilian side, developed while growing up in São Paolo, and the jazz side, which came later, opening his ears to a wide world of musical possibilities. Those two approaches developed separately for Kautz and were initially fueled by different inspirations. Upon moving to New York City in 2007, though, he found a musical community that encouraged both, soon pushing him to new heights. “New York makes you find your uniqueness as a musician,” Kautz explains. “You really need to find a voice to fit. There are so many people playing so well and so many artists with their own ideas.

Charif Megarbane is an incredible composer and musician from Beirut, Lebanon. We released his album "Marzipan“ last year. He is not only a gifted musician though, he is also a super productive one, on his Bandcamp he has shared over 100 albums with the world. In order to find an outlet for his productivity, we figured we should start a little series of limited edition releases.

“Élegiaque” includes a collection of compositions written with guitar and lute in mind. It features pieces whose leitmotif is melancholy, sadness and reverie. The album begins with a few fancies by English lutenist John Dowland; in his compositions, he would combine elaborate Renaissance polyphonies with melodies whose vocal features were clearly inspired by Italian influences. Fernando Sor’s Fantasia, written after the death of his student, is a monumental work. Although it was created in the Romantic era, it contains a number of references to the rhetoric of the Renaissance and Baroque.
