Hubert Sumlin was a brilliant guitarist who was a Howlin' Wolf sideman and a vast influence on Eric Clapton and Peter Green amongst others. This killer album started with a five-week tour of Europe with these musicians before they hit the UK. There was a lot of songwriting in hotel rooms which paid off handsomely. Here are 5 brand new songs from Hubert, a couple of well thought-out instrumentals and Hubert playing his usual imaginative lead guitar on 3 new songs by Richard Studholme. Musically, it's all tough blues but within that there is tremendous variation ranging from some nice modern touches to a couple of Jimmy Reedish tracks with just two guitars and drums. Altogether a superb team effort and a real revelation.

The Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO) is an American symphony orchestra based in Chicago, Illinois. Founded by Theodore Thomas in 1891, the ensemble has been based in the Symphony Center since 1904 and plays a summer season at the Ravinia Festival. The orchestra's most recent music director is Riccardo Muti, whose tenure spanned 13 seasons, from 2010–2023. The CSO is one of the American orchestras commonly referred to as the "Big Five".

This disc is a delight - and produced with typical BIS thoroughness. Det Norske Solistkor (The Norwegian Soloists’ Choir) has been in existence since 1950, and Grete Pedersen is only its second director, having assumed that position in 1990. The 26 singers are all professionals, and they sound it. The solo and ensemble work heard on this disc is exemplary.

Coltrane is an album by jazz musician John Coltrane, originally released in 1957 on Prestige Records, catalogue 7105. The recordings took place at the studio of Rudy Van Gelder in Hackensack, New Jersey, and document Coltrane's first session as a leader. It has been reissued at times under the title of The First Trane!.

2-3-4 is an album by American jazz drummer Shelly Manne featuring performances recorded in 1962 for the Impulse! label. 2-3-4 was not a typical album for Manne. Then associated primarily with West Coast jazz, he flew from Los Angeles to New York City on February 5, 1962, by arrangement with producer Bob Thiele, to be reunited with pioneering tenor saxophonist Coleman Hawkins and pianist Hank Jones, with both of whom he had recorded at different times in the 1940s. In an unusual session lasting through the wee hours of the morning, he ended by recording one tune as a duet with Hawkins, who for the first time in his career was recorded also playing the piano.

1963's "Ella and Basie!" is the first of many collaborations between the Count and the "First Lady of Song". Quincy Jones's arrangement of a perfect selection of jazz standards and Broadway classics captures the intimacy of Fitzgerald's playful vocals and the polish of Count Basie's band. Originally released in 1963 and featuring an unbelievable line up of future and current all-stars of the time (including Eric Dixon, Urbie Green, Frank Foster, Frank Wess, Freddie Green, to name just a few), Ella and Basie! is an exhilarating session. This much-loved album captures both artists at the height of their powers.

"Bad Company" was an instant hit worldwide. Their 1974 self-titled debut went platinum five times over and featured the smash hits, "Can't Get Enough", and "Movin' On" along with electrifying rock anthems like "Ready For Love," "Rock Steady" and the title track.

Bad Company followed up their initial success with the 1975 release of the triple-platinum album "Straight Shooter" which contained the Top Ten smash ballad "Feel Like Makin' Love" which was Grammy nominated. Paul Rodgers stated, "I started writing ‘Feel Like Makin Love’ when I was 18 and felt it needed an extra something. When I played it for Mick he added the big guitar bada ba bada ba then I felt the song was finished”. Other tracks from the album, such as "Shooting Star" have long since become concert and radio staples. The album enjoyed international success, reaching number three on both the UK and US album charts. The ecstatic response to the album accelerated the group's momentum and their standing as one of the most popular concert attractions in the world.

The album will be released in two parts- The Thorns: Side One (tracks 1-8) will be released June 12th, and The Roses: Side Two (tracks 9-16) will be released around a month later on July 17th.
The tracklist and release date for the album, got announced June 3rd 2024; a day before the lead single, Straight To Your Heart, got released. Later the same day, on June 4th, Ashton announced that he will be doing a live show to celebrate the album release, on July 18th a day after the full album comes out, in Los Angeles at The Belasco Theater.
