Folk & Anchor is a collection of contemporary cover songs that have been meaningful to us over the years. As sisters, as a Southern folk band, as lovers of story-telling songs, neo-soul southern music, banjo melodies, Beyonce, Hozier, Bob Dylan and beyond, this new album celebrates our journey as eclectic music lovers. Our taste spans from the old time fiddle tunes of our family, to Hip-hop of our urban up-bringing in ATL , to the deep roots and traditional instruments of the American South. With this new album Folk and Anchor, we wanted to create a body of work where all those influences could be showcased under one roof while giving a nod to some of our heros. Each song has been carefully selected from a long list of favorites because they each tell a story in and of themselves. But more than that, they tell a story together, and that story weaves the listener into the sonic tapestries of the roots of Rising Appalachia.

People Magazine reviewed it on 6.27.83: "Recently voted the Academy of Country Music's top female vocalist, Sylvia has a hot single (the title track) to go with the gold records she collected for last year's single "Nobody" and her album, Just Sylvia. She just might be the hottest thing to hit Nashville since Tootsie's Orchid Lounge. This album should consolidate her position nicely. Much of the material was written by Rhonda Kye Fleming and Dennis Morgan. That includes "Snapshot," a betrayed-wife tune; "Bobby's in Vicksburg," a contemporary Civil War ditty; a pleasant love song, "Jason" (written with Mack David); and "Tonight (I'm Gettin' Friendly with the Blues)". Sylvia is among the most restrained of today's women country singers. She'll never stun anyone with her vocal agility, but she always sings with control, feeling and grace."

Pages was an American pop rock band active during the late 1970s and the early 1980s. The band consisted of Richard Page and Steve George on vocals and keyboards supported by various studio musicians, some of whom from time to time were considered part of the band. Although Pages was highly regarded for its well-crafted pop and jazz-fusion sound, the group did not achieve commercial success, and disbanded after recording three studio albums. Pages is perhaps best known as the launching pad for the recording careers of Page and George, who later formed the band Mr. Mister who topped the charts during the mid-1980s with the hits "Broken Wings" and "Kyrie"

New York psych-pop band Crumb return with AMAMA, their most carefree and open-hearted album to date. CHM Records (Country. Music. Heritage.) maintains a rich history of classic country and bluegrass albums and is honoring several of these legacy releases by remastering them and making them available in new formats for the first time ever. Revived from the CMH archives, the Johnny Gimble & The Texas Swing Pioneers 1980 classic album Still Swingin’ will be available for the first time ever on digital and streaming May 17. This special album draws on Gimble’s deep connection to Western Swing music, gathering an all-star cast of musicians to revisit old favorites of the genre. The collection’s closer, “Don’t Be Ashamed of Your Age,” is out now (5/3) ahead of the full release.

John Oates’ new album is called ‘Reunion.’ But don’t think Hall & Oates are getting back together. NEW YORK (AP) — For many music fans, John Oates is most recognizable as one-half of the Grammy-nominated Hall & Oates, the multiplatinum soul-pop duo behind hits like “Rich Girl” and “Maneater” now riven by litigation. But he’s also had a full career as a soloist.
His sixth solo album, “Reunion,” is out May 17. Just don’t consider the title a thinly veiled attempt at getting the band back together — what he recognizes as “a true irony.” In November, Hall sued Oates, arguing that his plan to sell off his share of a joint venture would violate the terms of a business agreement the duo had forged. He accused Oates of committing the “ultimate partnership betrayal” by planning to sell his share without the other’s permission. A few days later, a judge sided with Hall in his request to keep Oates temporarily blocked from selling his potentially lucrative share. The litigation is ongoing.

Hit Me Hard and Soft is the upcoming third studio album by American singer-songwriter Billie Eilish, set for release on May 17, 2024. Eilish announced the album on April 8, after teasing the project on billboards in various locations. She later went on to announce a world tour.

Americana icons The Mavericks have announced details of their highly-anticipated new album ‘Moon & Stars’. The record is due for release on 17th May via the band’s Mono Mundo Recordings imprint in conjunction with Thirty Tigers. The group’s 13th studio album marks their first new music release since 2020’s ground-breaking and chart-topping ‘En Espanol’ project. ‘Moon & Stars’ is their first full English language release since ‘Brand New Day’ in 2017.
