Deliverance is the title track and one of the highlights from the 2nd Space, 1978 album. It's been sampled, it's been covered, it's even one of Elton Johns "favourites". However it hasn't been remixed… until now. The track is full of fine vocal performances. Jazz and session legend Madeline Bell takes the lead and truly delivers a spin-tingling belter of a lead vocal. The track also features what sounds like a Welsh male voice choir. However such is the genius of producer JP Illescuo its actually only two French backing singer chaps, multi-tracked to high heaven.

Made by 24-year-old Moroccan-born composer Didier Marouani, Just Blue is a prog and classical disco fusion album that redefines bombastic with its hands-in-the-air oddity. Composer and singer Marouani - a disciple of Chopin, Beethoven and Mozart - had already toured with Johnny Hallyday and Claude Francois when he began recording this, his band's third LP in 1978.

The lengths to which TACET have gone to secure an all-valve (tube) recording chain for this disc might seem perverse to some, but I think that the sound quality that they have achieved is a complete vindication of their unusual approach. The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, under their founder Karl Munchinger, were of course one of the stars of the Decca repertoire during the "Golden Age" of valve mastered recordings in the late Fifties and early Sixties, and this disc has the wonderfully warm string tone of the renowned SXL series LPs from that era.

Get yourself vaccinated in time! The rococo red Mozart flood is looming on the horizon. In jubilee year it will bring us a plague of catchy tunes, also known as earworms, which you are advised to immunise yourself against to save your ear passages from clogging up. Particular risk of infection is expected from Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nachtmusik K 525. It is as if the veins of a well-preserved mummy long frozen in glacier ice were to be refilled with living blood and spirits and return to life from eternal cryofication. At one point Mozart jumps so cheekily from G major to E flat major that one cannot help laughing.

From putting out a couple albums a year to only three studio albums between 1980 and '85, some might have thought Stevie Wonder's muse took a vacation. However, between his many cameo appearances, Steve Wonder released „In Square Circle“ in 1985. It was a slight return to the great music he penned in the '60s and '70 a playful yet earnest blend of funk and soul but with a more tailored sound. The hit single 'Part-Time Lover' best exemplifies that blend. Although the music's programmed nature is evident, Stevie's keyboard and drum parts are aces. And of course, he gets a little help from an all-star cast, including Philip Bailey, Deniece Williams, Luther Vandross and Stevie's own diamond-in-the-rough Syreeta Wright, among others.

Jam until the break of dawn! Released in 1980, Stevie Wonder’s brilliant Hotter Than July followed up with a bang a film soundtrack that witnessed the end of the legendary artist’s “Classic Period.” And how. Excited after meeting Bob Marley, Wonder embraced reggae’s sunnier feel and colorful look on the album, which yielded four Top Ten singles in the U.K. and three charting singles in the U.S. Hotter Than July remains the peerless composer’s last true masterpiece.

Here's the challenge in putting together a Bruce Springsteen compilation: though he scored 18 Top 40 hits (12 of which made the Top Ten) through 1994, Springsteen is not a "singles artist." Some of his biggest hits have come with his slightest or least characteristic material; he has written numerous songs that were hits for other artists; and some of his most memorable songs were not released as singles. While a Springsteen "hits" collection logically would contain such Top Ten singles as "I'm on Fire" and his cover of Edwin Starr's "War," few Springsteen fans would miss their omission; on the other hand, many would support the inclusion of "Blinded by the Light" and "Pink Cadillac," Top Ten hits for Manfred Mann's Earth Band and Natalie Cole

Reportedly, Bruce Springsteen recorded most of Human Touch in 1990, but left it unreleased. He returned to work in the fall of 1991, intending to add a song, but ended up recording a whole new album, Lucky Town, and then decided to release both records at the same time in the spring of 1992. He might have been better off pulling a couple of the stronger songs from the earlier album, adding them to the later one (which runs less than 40 minutes), and shelving the rest. While Human Touch was a disappointing album of second-rate material, Lucky Town is an ambitious collection addressing many of Springsteen's major concerns and moving them forward.
