Wish You Were Here is the ninth studio album by the English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 12 September 1975 through Harvest Records and Columbia Records, their first release for the latter. Based on material Pink Floyd composed while performing in Europe, Wish You Were Here was recorded over numerous sessions throughout 1975, at Abbey Road Studios in London.

After the disastrous failure of its première in 1897, Rachmaninov's youthfully exuberant Symphony No. 1 had to wait until after his death before it was reconstructed from the surviving orchestral parts and performed again, in Moscow in 1945. Since then it has taken its rightful place as one of the great Russian symphonic works of the late nineteenth century. The Isle of the Dead, Op. 29 is a vivid and powerful symphonic poem based on a well-known nineteenth-century painting by the Swiss symbolist artist Arnold Bocklin.

Tequila were one of Spain's most popular and influential rock bands of the 1970s and '80s, breaking down the doors for rock & roll in the post-Franco era and winning a massive following at home for their music, rooted in the classic style of Chuck Berry and the Rolling Stones. Tequila were formed in 1975 by a pair of Argentinian expatriates, lead singer Alejo Stivel and lead guitarist Ariel Rot. Teaming with three native Spaniards guitarist Julian Infante, bassist Felipe Lipe, and drummer Manolo Iglesias Tequila landed a record deal with Sony's Spanish division after establishing themselves as a powerful live act, and their debut album, Matricula de Honor, was released in 1978.

Flamenco-inspired pop duo Andy & Lucas (Andrés Morales and Lucas González) first knew each other as neighbors and friends in their Cadiz neighborhood of La Laguna. The boys went to school together from the first grade on, deciding to form a musical group early on in their friendship. At the age of 12, Morales began writing songs, which he began to perform with González in bars around Cadiz by the time they were 16. The duo made their recording industry debut four years later with the release of Andy & Lucas, produced by the Argentine-born Alejo Stivel. The disc went on to sell better than 200,000 units, staying at the top of national charts for a number of weeks.

Antonio Flores was a famed Spanish actor and songwriter. The only male child of renowned actors and singers Lola Flores and Antonio González, he was surrounded by music and performers from a young age. Flores appeared in his first film, El Taxi de los Conflictos, at the age of eight. Though his background leaned toward flamenco, Flores chose pop/rock as style of choice. His debut record, Antonio, emerged in 1980. Though appreciated after time, the album was not successful at its release. Subsequent releases Al Caer el Sol (1984) and Gran Via (1988) also fell short of expectations. Though the '80s were a difficult period for Flores' recording career, he participated in a number of successful film projects, including Colegas, Calé, and Sangre y Arena.

In Spain, singer Isabel Pantoja is considered one of the greatest vocal practitioners of the traditional copla in history. Though her Andalusian take on the folk style is highly orchestrated, her detailed attention to narrative, melody, drama, and rhythm, are singular. Since the mid-'80s, she has expanded her repertoire to include romantic pop ballads with no damage done to her stature. Pantoja's beloved musical reputation has been buoyed by a storied life filled with awards more than 40 platinum-certified records tragedy, and misadventure (including a two-year prison stint for being an accomplice to money laundering), as well as an emergency medical evacuation from a remote island during her period of competing in the Spanish edition of the television series Survivor.

Manuel de la Calva and Ramón Arcusa met while working in an aviation company. After singing together at a Christmas party, these young music lovers decided to pursue a career naming their act Duo Dinamico. They started with a live performance at a local radio station and recording an EP for the first time in 1959, featuring "Little Darling," "Alone," "Cowboy," and "Recordandote." Soon, Duo Dinamico was performing along with Luis Mariano, Lucho Gatica, even the Platters, and getting main roles in movies such as Boton De Ancla and Buscame A Esa Chica. Singer and actress Maria Dolores Pradera was born in Madrid on August 29, 1924. She spent much of her childhood in Chile, her family brought there by her father's business. She began working as an actress on both stage and screen as early as her late teens. Her first major works were the films Yo No Ne Caso in 1944 and Los Habitantes de la Casa Deshabitada in 1946. It was while working on Los Habitantes that Pradera met Fernando Fernan Gómez, whom she would marry in 1947. From there she would perform in various theaters in Spain, France, and Mexico, collaborating with the most important directors of the day. As a singer, Pradera was known for her smooth voice, perfect diction, and intuitive nature in a variety of styles.

Ana Maria Alias Vega, commonly known by her artistic name, Pasión Vega, was born in Madrid on April 23, 1976. She grew up in Malaga, first performing publicly in church choirs and small Christian groups. Her first recordings were with a Christian group called Los Misioneros de la Esperanza (MIES) while she was still in her teens. Vega got her feet wet in the recording industry through a local radio competition, the prize for which would be a professionally recorded single. She won the competition a few years in a row, and started being noticed by local media professionals.

Known for her powerful voice and bold expressiveness, Mónica Naranjo is a Latin pop singer/songwriter from Spain whose popularity extends from Europe to the Americas. Her music is dynamic, often leaning toward cutting-edge dance music. Her popularity peaked in the late '90s with the release of Palabra de Mujer (1997), though she has retained a hardcore following over time, even after taking years off between albums, as was the case with Tarántula (2008), her first album of all-original material in seven years.

Animals is the tenth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 21 January 1977 through Harvest and Columbia Records. It was recorded at the band's Britannia Row Studios in London throughout 1976, and was produced by the band. The album continues the longform compositions that made up their previous works, including Wish You Were Here (1975). The album received positive reviews from critics and was commercially successful, reaching number 2 and 3 in the UK and US, respectively. Since its release, it has sold over 5 million copies worldwide.

Talented singer and actress Ana Belén was born in Madrid, Spain. As a child, Belén used to express herself dancing and singing, showing up at different radio stations and participating in children contests. At the age of 12, Ana Belén recorded her first single, soon being assigned with a role in a movie called Zampo y Yo, with Fernando Rey as its star part. Belén decided to get acting lessons at TEM (Teatro Estudio Madrileño), debuting with a role in Cervante's Numancia and getting a main role for the first time in the 1970's movie Españolas en Paris. In 1973, Belén fell in love with singer Victor Manuel and the couple got married that same year. By that time, Juan Carlos Calderón produced her first album.

Nicknamed La Más Grande, Spanish singer and actress Rocío Jurado began performing flamenco at a very young age, debuting on the big screen in 1962 with Los Guerrilleros, acting alongside Manolo Escobar. She played her first main role in 1966's Proceso a una Estrella, and also starred in 1971's Una Chica Casi Decente. While temporarily living in Argentina, the Spanish diva successfully participated in a musical called La Zapatera Prodigiosa, based on Federico García Lorca's work.
