An Icelandic super rock project TRÚBROT were founded in 1969 via two of the most popular bands in Iceland – Karl SIGHVATSSON (piano, organ, keyboards), Gunnar Jökull HÁKONARSON (drums, voices) from FLOWERS, and Gunnar ÞÓRÐARSON (guitar, flute, voices), Rúnar JÚLÍUSSON (bass, voices), Shady OWENS (voices) from HLJÓMUM – against the “commercialized” Icelandic pop scene in late 60s.

The eponymous 1968 album by Israel's Churchills is one of the most sought-after records in the world. While some rare records go for hundreds of dollars, an original copy of The Churchills is likely to fetch thousands. Why?

Belgian clarinettist Annelien Van Wauwe revives the golden glow of a bygone age on her PENTATONE debut album Belle époque, together with the Orchestre National de Lille and its music director Alexandre Bloch. The programme is built around treasures of French turn-of-thecentury music such as Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie, Pierné’s Canzonetta and Widor’s Introduction et Rondo (the latter two in arrangements by Jelle Tassyns). Belle époque also offers works that display a spiritual kinship to the age, such as Brahms’s first clarinet sonata, arranged by Luciano Berio, and a world-premiere recording of Parisbased contemporary composer Manfred Trojahn (Rhapsodie pour clarinette et orchestre).

Internationally renowned flutist Carol Winsenc joins forces with the Escher String Quartet, Tanya Dusevic Witek also on flute, and pianists Stephen Gosling and Emile Naoumoff to present this dynamic recording of the compositions of Yuko Uébayashi. The opening piece, Misericordia pour flûte et quatuor à cordes was composed for Carol Wincenc. Hailed "Queen of the Flute" (New York Magazine) at the outset of her, now, brilliant 48 year career, flutist Carol Wincenc was First Prize Winner of the (sole) Walter W. Naumburg Solo Flute Competition, as well as the Lifetime Achievement Award recipient from the National Flute Association, the National Society of Arts and Letters Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement in Music, and Distinguished Alumni Awards from Manhattan School of Music and the Brevard Music Center. During the past two seasons she performed, recorded and gave masterclasses as an exclusive Burkart Flutes Artist in Beijing, Shenyang, Seoul, Warsaw, Prague, Venice, Nice, and Thessoloniki.

Miles Davis' boundlessly influential On the Corner was so far ahead of its time upon release in 1972, the jazz cognoscenti rejected its groundbreaking concoction as middling in nature. Yet time has a way of righting wrongs and shifting views by adding needed context and perspective to visionary ideas, music, and approaches – the likes of which fill Davis' boldest and most controversial – undertaking.

The album 'Chansons' features her own interpretations of classic French songs from both France and Québec. Jill meticulously curated the repertoire herself, selecting material from a long list of over thirty songs, drawn both from her own collection, and from recommendations from friends within the Francophone community. There are 12 covers of classic French songs from Québec and France, including songs by Edith Piaf, Serge Gainsbourg, and Charles Aznavour.

As a performer, Jill Barber charms her audiences while weaving a romantic spell. Indeed, romance plays a huge role in both her life and her art. “My previous album represented the courtship phase of my career”, she muses. “With Mischievous Moon, we’re getting intimate. The romance is alive and well, but there’s something deeper to be uncovered. The moon has such a venerable presence in the night sky, keeping one eye on us. I don’t know about everyone else, but sometimes it feels like we have our own private jokes, the moon and I. From time to time I can’t help but look up and give it a little wink.

Some might have seen Lhasa’s first album, “La Llorona”, as a curiosity, an exotic accident. The singer and songwriter appeared from nowhere in 1997 with an album that defied definition, capturing a Latin world of her own imagination born of an itinerant childhood spent between Mexico and the US. The music was both familiar and truly unique, a mix of ranchero music, Eastern European gypsy music, country, and popular song writing, with intensely personal lyrics in Spanish, and a passionate vocal delivery. The album was written and produced in Montréal, and in many ways could not have been made anywhere else. These are songs inspired by a warm country but written in a cold one, with a Brontë-like romanticism, a wry and literate sense of humor, and moments of startling emotional rawness.

Singer, songwriter from Montreal studied archeology at the University of Montreal, and in the early 1970s sang in Quebec colleges. In 1977 the keyboardist Robert Léger (of BEAU DOMMAGE) encouraged him to record his first LP, À qui appartient le beau temps, which sold more than 100,000 copies.

The group was formed in 1967 by Franco Gatti (born 4 October 1942 in Genoa), Angela Brambati (born 20 October 1947 in Genoa), Angelo Sotgiu (born 22 February 1946 in Trinità d'Agultu e Vignola) and Marina Occhiena (born 19 March 1950 in Genoa). Their first public appearance was in Cantagiro 1968 with L'ultimo amore. Ricchi e Poveri has participated in the Sanremo Music Festival several times since 1970 and in 1971 they sang Che sarà. Ricchi e Poveri represented Italy in Eurovision Song Contest 1978 with the song Questo amore finishing 12th with 53 points. In 1981 Marina Occhiena left the group.

A Big Band album of the great music of the ‘30s and ‘40s produced and recorded by André Perry with some of America’s finest jazz musicians mixed with early synthesizers. Hotel Orchestra was recorded in 1973 with some of America’s finest jazz musicians. (The original 2 track Non-Dolby analogue master tape was used for the digital mastering, using an Ampex 300 tube analogue recorder).

On their 8th and most recent album, 'Idiosyncrasie', the Quartet explores the connection of contemporary jazz and 20th century music. The group is an outstanding example of Canada’s burgeoning contemporary jazz scene, and has received several prestigious Canadian prizes such as the Juno, Felix and Opus awards and has toured in Europe, the US, Canada, Russia, India and Mexico. They have opened for Wayne Shorter, Dave Brubeck, Wynton Marsalis, Dizzy Gillespie and Abbie Lincoln.

Seven years after the release of his last album, André Gagnon is back with a brand new album. The renowned maestro was inspired by both wild nature and human nature resulting in new and original pieces, some recorded with the Trois-Rivières Symphonic Orchestra under the direction of Jacques Lacombe. Les chemins ombragés, directed by André Gagnon himself and Marc Beaulieu presents 11 instrumental songs, both gentle and inspired, undertaking light and obscure paths at the same time.
