When I ask my friends about "Illusions on a Double Dimple", most of them seem to like the music, but almost everyone believes TRIUMVIRAT is some kind of "B" class band that cloned ELP music, IMHO they are all wrong, the band's music and specially their wonderful arrangements are so unique and well designed that "Illusions a Double Dimple" is at least as strong as the best ELP album, but totally different.

I sometimes wonder how would sound the music of classical masters such as BACH or BEETHOVEN would they be living nowadays with our modern technology! I think TRIUMVIRAT would be the closest thing BACH for example would come up with.

I was 10 years old when I heard the song "More tea vicar" in an AM radio, by the way a melody I didn't know his authorship and name. This melody has accompanied me throughout my life.

What an awesome album this is! When one reflects on the considerable popularity of ELP and Yes among progressive rock fans, it's really surprising how many people fail to make the correct extrapolations to arrive at this particular masterpiece …

Anton Baranov is one of the foremost guitarists of his generation, having won both the 2013 Guitar Foundation of America and Francisco Tárrega Competitions. His programme features four composers of different generations and diverse backgrounds from Central and South America, who combine traditional elements of the guitarist's art in the Latin-American world with a delight in experimentation. The result is an entertaining and imaginative kaleidoscope of colour and rhythm.

Cindy McTee’s compositions embody the musical and cultural energy of modern-day America. Circuits, ‘a boisterously jazzy sprint’ (Detroit Free Press), is followed by Symphony No 1, a smartly assembled work whose diverse ideas ‘seemed to unfold naturally within an orchestral fabric that used the ensemble’s full coloristic range’ (The New York Times). The use of computer music in Einstein’s Dream lends sonic complexity to a piece that celebrates the scientist’s work on quantum theory. Double Play, commissioned by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, ‘hums with craftsmanship and a catholic array of influences across several centuries’ (The Washington Post).

The longest work in Brahms’s entire oeuvre, A German Requiem was almost certainly triggered by the death of his mother, although it also seems likely that the tragic loss of his friend Robert Schumann, some years earlier, added to its depth and eloquence.

There was a particularly rich vein of Nordic writing for the violin between the years 1910 and 1930. In this recital Henning Kraggerud, an exemplary stylist lauded for his Sibelius and Sinding concerto album, Naxos 8.557266 and 6.110056 (‘Kraggerud’s performance is superb throughout’ – Classics Today.com), explores this memorable repertoire. It ranges from Halvorsen’s folk-flecked Norwegian Dance to Stenhammar’s passionate Sentimental Romances. Late romanticism floods Sinding’s Abendstimmung whilst Sibelius’s Six Humoresques remain a masterpiece of the genre. The earlier works of Ole Bull illustrate the brilliance and panache of ‘The Nordic Paganini’.

A total of seven Baroque choral compositions are featured, from the Duben collection at the University of Uppsala in Sweden. All of the composers are little known, but their music still touches my heart. Stefano Fabri’s Laudate pueri Dominum and Simon Vesi’s De profundis clarmavi are especially noteworthy. The acoustic of the recording venue is very naturally captured. The chorus, which is dominated by female voices, is convincingly localized within the soundstage with excellent width and depth and with just the right blend of intimacy and spaciousness.” -Stereophile 1991 record to die for, by Thomas J Norton

Gabriel Fauré’s musical language bridges a gap between the romanticism of the 19th century and the new worlds of music which appeared in the 20th, employing subtle harmonic changes and a gift for melody to combine innovation with an entirely personal idiom. His First Piano Quartet is filled with characteristic French colour and lyricism, and the Piano Trio in D minor is a late work whose musical language is familiar from his songs. Both the Pavane and the popular Sicilienne express nostalgia for earlier times, and the short Pièce has great simplicity and charm.

Considered one of poulenc’s finest compositions, Les soirées de Nazelles is interpreted here by Swedish pianist Rolf Lindblom who devotes this programme to works by Poulenc, originally recorded on analog and released in 1992 on the audiophile label Proprius.

Maestro Manfred Honeck and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra present Bruckner Symphony No. 9, an iconic work in a new and definitive interpretation in superb audiophile sound. This release was recorded in beautiful Heinz Hall, home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
