Passion is the fourth album by American singer Jennifer Rush. Following on from the success of her previous album, Rush continued working with much of the same team of writers and producers. This album however failed to find the same high level of success and didn't chart at all in the UK. However sales were satisfying in her most successful market, Germany, where the album reached No.3 and was certified platinum. The lead single "You're My One and Only" became a hit, but further releases "Keep All the Fires Burning Bright" and "Love Get Ready" did little to generate interest. Single success did come a few months later in the UK, when a duet with Placido Domingo, "Till I Loved You" became a hit in the summer of 1989.

La-La Land Records, Paramount Pictures and UME present the remastered and expanded 2-CD reissue of acclaimed composer Dave Grusin’s (THREE DAYS OF THE CONDOR, THE GOONIES, HAVANA) Academy Award-nominated original motion picture score to the 1993 Paramount Pictures blockbuster drama THE FIRM, starring Tom Cruise, Ed Harris and Holly Hunter, and directed by Sydney Pollack. Grusin’s beautiful, piano-only score is both unique and powerful. Passionate, dramatic and suspenseful, it is an important work finally given the deluxe treatment it has always warranted. Produced by Dan Goldwasser and re-mastered by Doug Schwartz, this special 2-CD release has been significantly expanded beyond its original 1993 soundtrack release (which is also included here on Disc 2). Exclusive in-depth liner notes by writer Jeff Bond takes you behind-the-scenes of this hit film and its notable score, with new interview comments from the composer. Sharp art direction by Dan Goldwasser compliments this essential Limited Edition release of 3000 units.

Jerry Goldsmith’s iconic original score to Paramount Pictures’ 1979 feature film STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE boldly returns with a limited edition 2-CD re-issue from La-La Land Records and Paramount Music. The first big screen voyage of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock was a high budget and ambitious undertaking that introduced Goldsmith’s famous and enduring Star Trek march (later used as the main theme for Star Trek: The Next Generation) as the cornerstone of an epic science fiction musical odyssey. Like the film’s refit starship Enterprise, La-La Land’s lavish 2012 restoration presented the score anew: fully restored, remixed and mastered from the first generation multi-track masters by Bruce Botnick, the original album co-producer and Goldsmith’s long time scoring engineer.

Yngwie Malmsteen's second best album after Rising Force, Trilogy finds him delving wholeheartedly into fantastic, medieval themes and lyrical imagery. Yngwie's compositional skills are at their peak, and of all his albums, the lyrics here contribute the most to the overall feel of the music. The guitar solos, as always, are jaw-droppingly fast and technically demanding, but Malmsteen is still capable of playing them with force and fire behind them. Highlights include "Dark Ages," "You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget," and the epic "Trilogy Suite Op:5."

Singer/songwriter Jacques Dutronc gained popularity in his native France with his provocative songs that matched the rebellious spirit of the '60s so well. Though he was absent from the musical scene for nearly a decade, pursuing a film career, he successfully returned to music in the early '80s and still remains one of the most popular performers in the French-speaking world. Dutronc started as a guitarist in the small rock group El Toro et les Cyclones, who recorded two singles. In 1965, he was asked by the manager of Françoise Hardy to write a few songs for her, so Dutronc composed "Le Temps de l'Amour" and "Va Pas Prendre un Tambour." Having proven himself a successful songwriter, Dutronc decided to pursue a solo career. It started in 1966 with such hits as "Et Moi et Moi, et Moi," "On Nous Cache Tout, On Nous Dit Rien," "Les Play-Boys," and others. His 1968 song "Paris S'Eveille" became an instant classic of French pop music. In 1973, Dutronc successfully ventured into film acting, which would eventually bring him a Best Actor Cesar (a French equivalent to Oscar) for the leading role in Van Gogh.

The essence of Jimmy Webb’s artistry is exemplified in an unlikely place on this five-disc set, which collects all of his 1970s studio albums plus a 1972 live concert and an assortment of outtakes. It’s the last of those outtakes, a duet with Harry Nilsson on Boudleaux & Felice Bryant’s “Love Hurts”, that reveals the truth.
Webb had recorded the classic ballad for his 1972 album Letters, then cut this subsequent take with Nilsson in London but decided not to use it. In the liner notes here, Webb explains he and Nilsson were “smashed out of our minds” when they cut the track, and confesses he nixed it because he felt Nilsson’s vocal was too melodramatic: “Somewhat hypocritically perhaps, I felt he was too far gone…”

Martin Neary and Westminster Abbey Choir, aided and abetted by the New London Consort, marked the tercentenary of Purcell’s death with this recording, a majestic album of the composer’s music for Queen Mary in life and in death. The Funeral Music opens here with Wood’s transcription of the ‘Old English March’ in procession through Westminster Abbey’s reverberant interior, then in company with the windband marches of Tollet and Paisible and Purcell’s Funeral March. For sense of place, history, and grandeur, nothing beats Neary’s recording. His choir are on peak form in Morley’s Funeral Sentences but hindered by indistinct recorded sound.

All three were killed within weeks of arrival. Farr’s concerto is instantly accessible and is a dramatic and emotional statement.

The combination of King and the well-oiled Philly rhythm section that powered hits by the O'Jays, Spinners, and Stylistics proved a surprisingly adroit one. Two huge hits came from this album, the Stevie Wonder/Syreeta Wright-penend title track and "I Like to Live the Love," both of them intriguing updates of King's tried-and-true style.

"Greer is a highly accomplished player of the natural horn… I find Greer's playing very musicianly: unusually graceful in the phrasing of the quick movements, with gentle, thoughtful playing in K417 and some lovely smooth and clear lines in K495, while the slow movements are all beautifully done—the Romance of K447 refined and graceful, that of K495 often truly poetic with happy details of timing. And there is no shortage of wit in the finales, or of high spirits. Greer improvises his cadenzas: in the first movement of K495 he does, rightly I think, simply a longish flourish, with no reference to the themes of the movement." The Autobiography of Supertramp is simply the international version of the title released in the United States by A&M as Vol. 9 in the rather confusing Classics series – obviously a forced attempt at label-branding gone awry (or at least nowhere). Over its 14 tracks, the collection glosses over a few fine moments from the falsetto-happy art rockers' early career misfires ("Dreamer," "Bloody Well Right," etc.) and sporadic latter-day hits ("Give a Little Bit," "It's Raining Again," etc.), then bites down on the meat, or rather the breakfast meat, of the group's greatest commercial triumph, 1979's multi-million-selling Breakfast in America ("Goodbye Stranger," "The Logical Song," "Take the Long Way Home," the title track). Released in 1990, The Very Best of Supertramp went a step further, arguably bettering this release by adding or supplanting a song or two, but casual fans are guaranteed to get their money's worth with either one.

A prolific, award-winning Italian trumpet and flügelhorn player known for his warm tone and lyrical style. His style is based on the classic Miles Davis sound of the '50s, and the very lineup of his quintet is reminiscent of Davis' group, with excellent tenor Tino Tracanna. They mostly play originals and the music flows fresh and engaging, never a mere imitation.
