Legacy Recordings is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Simon and Garfunkel’s Bridge Over Troubled Water with the debut release of Live At Carnegie Hall 1969, a four-song EP available for streaming only. Recorded in November 1969 during a sold-out two-night run at New York’s Carnegie Hall, the EP includes previously unreleased early live versions of “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright,” “The Boxer” and “Song For the Asking.” The recordings from Carnegie Hall capture early performances of songs that Simon and Garfunkel were introducing in concert to their fans, two months before the release of their fifth and final studio album, Bridge Over Troubled Water (originally released January 26, 1970).

Thirty years and twelve great albums later, Hannon is rightly adjudged one of the finest singer songwriters of his generation. To celebrate, Divine Comedy Records are remastering and reissuing nine of the band's classic albums.

John Verity has had a varied and amazing career to date, including support dates with rock luminaries such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Who, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, and Mountain, to recording dates with Ringo Starr, Keith Emerson, Greg Lake, Tim Rose, Zombies, Colin Blunstone, Phoenix, Charlie, and Argent to name but a few… Currently touring to promote his latest album ‘Tone Hound – on the last train to Corona’ a schedule that includes both unplugged and electric shows. JV has recorded and toured constantly with his solo projects- always with that distinctive soulful blues edge - and collaborations both in and out of the studio. One of these took place on a Jools Holland tour a while back when John first performed with stunning vocalist Bianca Kinane whilst promoting her debut album.

The Vienna Stories title of this release by harpist Anneleen Lenaerts is more personal than thematic. Only some of the pieces are from or about Vienna (although the inclusion of An der schönen blauen Donau, Op. 314 ("The Blue Danube Waltz") qualifies the collection as Viennese in the end. Lenaerts is the principal harpist of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, where she has become an emerging star of her instrument. At the end of the program, she brings in some of her Philharmonic colleagues as a small string group. This is entirely in keeping with the spirit of the program, which evokes unusually nicely the atmosphere of a salon harp concert of a century or more ago. Most of the pieces are transcriptions of various ages, and Lenaerts contributes a Fantasy on La Bohème by Puccini of her own; it is indeed good to hear a new entry in the operatic paraphrase genre, which any 19th century listener would have taken as natural, but which is mighty rare these days.

The new album “On DSCH” by Igor Levit is a 3CD discographic tour de force by “one of the essential artists of our time” (The New York Times). That the self-styled “maximalist” enjoys pushing himself to his limits – intellectually and physically – is well known, but the present project – two key cycles of musical modernism - puts all others in the shade.

The Ensemble Codex Sanctissima was founded in November 2011 with the purpose of spreading the Medieval and Renaissance music to the most varied audiences, with repertoires primarily selected among the most venerable sources of Christian sacred music, from the liturgical traditions of pre-Gregorian chant dating back to the sixth century, through the earliest forms of polyphony recorded in manuscripts of the ninth and tenth centuries, the works of the School of Notre-Dame and its correlates, the works of the troubadours and trouvères, the periods known as Ars Antiqua and Ars Nova, until the Renaissance of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries. In this project we aim to also include some Oriental music, as is the case of an Armenian prayer in this first album.

Bülent Arel's (1919 Turkey - 1990 USA) work occupies a special place in the history of electronic music because one thing is certain: Arel's work is still fresh, groundbreaking, and it seems always to look out for the next adventure in sound.

San Francisco's Beyond-O-Matic plays a dreamy, sometimes quirky, electronically psychedelic brand of space music that has just enough freakiness, and even a fair dose of dissonance, to put it firmly in the space realm, but is somewhat undefinable in it's interpretation. The band consists of Kurt Stenzel (aka Stenzo) on vocals, keyboards, guitar, and delay loops, Franktus Evictus on drums and voices, David Gresalfi on linndrum, samples, and vocals, and the Reverend Peter Fuhry on vocals, cross5 guitar, thebeatles, acoustic bariguitar, long stiff finger off doom, toy piano, accordion, flute, metal clarinet, and delay loop effects. What's that? You've never heard of a thebeatles? Or a long stiff finger of doom? Well there are pictures of these nifty buggers on the band's web page and they sure seem to be homemade stringed instruments of some mutated fashion (I ask about them in the interview). The end result is a work that puts electronics in the forefront, but subtly incorporates this varied instrumentation to produce music that is beautiful and uniquely beyond-o-matic. "Your Body" is the band's third release.
