Following 2016's lauded When Patsy Cline Was Crazy… And Guy Mitchell Sang The Blues, Warwick unleashes his fifth solo album. Titled When Life Was Hard And Fast, it was recorded in Los Angeles and produced by Keith Nelson (ex-Buckcherry), who also co-wrote the majority of the songs on the record with Warwick. Growing up in northern Ireland on a diet of Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, Motörhead, and the Ramones, Ricky Warwick started performing with New Model Army in the late '80s before helping to form U.K. punk band the Almighty in 1988. After a lengthy stint with several successful records in the '80s and '90s, the group disbanded in 2001. Shortly thereafter, Warwick teamed up with Def Leppard lead singer Joe Elliott to record and produce his solo debut, Tattoos & Alibis, in early 2003 for the Sanctuary imprint.

All right, he's made a record with his wife and a record with his pickup band where democracy is allegedly the conceit even if it never sounds that way, so he returns to a solo effort, making the most disjointed album he ever cut. There's a certain fascination to its fragmented nature, not just because it's decidedly on the softer side of things, but because his desire for homegrown eccentricity has been fused with his inclination for bombastic art rock à la Abbey Road…

Bunny Wailer is not only known as an original member of reggae group The Wailers, but also because of his fantastic solo career. His second album Protest is full of solid reggae rhythms and conscious lyrics. It's subtle with a lot of slowly growing repetitions and the great Peter Tosh appears on the guitar. As the title suggests, it is more of social commentary, Bunny protests against vanity and rallies for human rights. All over this one needs to be in everybody's Reggae collection.

This musical reunion, featuring high-powered horn artistry and a propulsive rhythm section, resulted in their new CD, Freespace. Pianist Steve Allee's original music melds hard-swinging post-bop and energetic contemporary jazz with the subtle intricacies of the piano trio. The musical chemistry and deep friendships come through loud and clear.

Classix Nouveaux was one of the first new romantic acts in England. Although Classix Nouveaux's more guitar-heavy sound separated them from the mostly synthetic rhythms of Japan and Ultravox, the group's appetite for stylish fashion and danceable keyboards had them quickly associated with the new romantic movement. Formed in 1979 with Sal Solo (vocals), Mik Sweeney (bass), BP Hurding (drums), and Jak Airport (guitar), Classix Nouveaux originated in the punk underground, namely from the ashes of the controversial X-Ray Spex. After banshee wailer Poly Styrene departed from X-Ray Spex, the remaining members held auditions for a replacement singer. Solo won the approval of a few of Styrene's former bandmates, and they debuted at the Music Machine on August 1979. Airport left the group before they even recorded their first single; he was replaced by Gary Steadman.

Live Aid was one of the biggest global television events of all time. An estimated 1.9 billion people across the world tuned in for the concert broadcast, and it was estimated that the TV telecast reached more than 500 million of the world's approximate 600 million TV sets, including in the Soviet Union (now Russia) and China (which was unprecedented at the time in the 1980s). Live Aid was a benefit concert held on Saturday 13 July 1985, as well as a music-based fundraising initiative. The original event was organised by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise funds for relief of the 1983–1985 famine in Ethiopia. Billed as the "global jukebox", the event was held simultaneously at Wembley Stadium in London, UK, attended by about 72,000 people and John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, US, attended by 89,484 people.

Three years after Gerry Mulligan initially sat in with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, the baritone saxophonist arrived at a point where he could perform alongside Brubeck's alto saxophonist, Paul Desmond, for this much anticipated session. When legal issues, wranglings with producer Norman Granz, and the question of which record label would subsidize and release this album were resolved, the two saxophonists went ahead to produce a delightful program of standards and originals where their more playful sides could fully blossom…

The fourth Sky album - Sky 4 Forthcoming - was released in March 1982. This was Sky's first album to feature no original material. It consisted predominantly of arrangements of classical compositions (with the exception of a version of Hoagy Carmichael's "Skylark" and a band-composed variation on Adam de la Halle's ballet score for "My Giselle") and was marketed under the slogan "Genius Past, Genius Forthcoming". Music on the album included Sky treatments of pieces such as Berlioz's "March To The Scaffold" and Wagner's "Ride Of The Valkyries".

World premiere release of exciting, vivid western score! Burt Lancaster, Bruce Davison star, Alan Sharp scripts, Joseph Biroc photographs, Robert Aldrich directs, Universal Pictures presents, Frank DeVol scores. All participants excel! Allegorical nod to the Vietnam War chronicles brutal take on cavalry vs. indians trope with small band of reservation Apaches on the run, looting and killing with mounted troops in pursuit. But just who is pursued and who is in pursuit? Whatever. Considerable carnage results. Frank DeVol, veteran composer of Aldrich films (Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?, Hush… Hush Sweet Charlotte, The Flight Of The Phoenix, The Dirty Dozen) melds old-fashioned marching tune for the cavalry with dynamic action material for variety of intense skirmishes. March typically plays on brass, woodwinds and percussion with minimal support from strings. Interestingly, DeVol also scores the action with brass and woodwinds in the lead, percussion in support and strings - mainly cellos and basses - in subordinate role. Violins get their say in select sequences but this is imposing, edgy, often-rousing and decidedly ferocious music. DeVol gets considerable contrast with both muted and open brass.
