The Incredible Bongo Band, also known as Michael Viner's Incredible Bongo Band, was a project started in 1972 by Michael Viner, a record artist manager and executive at MGM Records, producer, MGM Records executive and Curb Records founder Mike Curb and arranger Perry Botkin, Jr. Viner was called on to supplement the soundtrack to the B-film The Thing With Two Heads.[3] The band's output consisted of upbeat, funky, instrumental music. Many tracks were covers of popular songs of the day characterized by the prominence of bongo drums, conga drums, rock drums and brass.

There is no doubting the importance of Gil Scott-Heron’s “Pieces Of A Man” LP.
It was a landmark album with its bold, poetic lyrical content allied to progressive and melodic music, and it saw producer Bob Thiele help Gil and his musical partner Brian Jackson paint the picture they needed to get their message across. Thiele put Gil and Brian together with Ron Carter, Hubert Laws and Bernard Purdie, giving them the musical heft they wanted.

Walter Becker and Donald Fagen were remarkable craftsmen from the start, as Steely Dan's debut, Can't Buy a Thrill, illustrates. Each song is tightly constructed, with interlocking chords and gracefully interwoven melodies, buoyed by clever, cryptic lyrics. All of these are hallmarks of Steely Dan's signature sound, but what is most remarkable about the record is the way it differs from their later albums. Of course, one of the most notable differences is the presence of vocalist David Palmer, a professional blue-eyed soul vocalist who oversings the handful of tracks where he takes the lead. Palmer's very presence signals the one major flaw with the album – in an attempt to appeal to a wide audience, Becker and Fagen tempered their wildest impulses with mainstream pop techniques.

With its first international CD, the Neuer Kammerchor Berlin is standing on strong shoulders: "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants" is the debut of the ensemble founded and led by conductor Adrian Emans in 2016. It presents an exciting cross-section of the young ensemble's repertoire – from Thomas Tallis to neo-romantic music by Max Bruch and Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, pieces with a folkloristic touch by John Rutter, Paul Stanhope and Ken Steven to commissioned compositions by the American Daniel Elder and the Swede Karin Rehnqvist.

The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross (German: Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze) is an orchestral work by Joseph Haydn, commissioned in 1786 for the Good Friday service at Oratorio de la Santa Cueva (Holy Cave Oratory) in Cádiz, Spain. Published in 1787 and performed then in Paris, Rome, Berlin and Vienna, the composer adapted it in 1787 for string quartet, approved a version for solo piano in the same year, and finally adapted it in 1796 as an oratorio (with both solo and choral vocal forces).

King Crimson 1969-1972 is a limited edition boxed set presenting the band's celebrated quartet of studio albums from that period — In The Court Of The Crimson King, In The Wake Of Poseidon, Lizard, Islands — in their 40th anniversary edition mixes (created by Steven Wilson and Robert Fripp between 2009-2010).

Legendary rock guitarist Steve Hackett will release his new studio album “The Circus And The Nightwhale” on 16th February 2024 via InsideOut Music. A rite-of-passage concept album with a young character called Travla at the centre of it, “The Circus And The Nightwhale”s 13 tracks have an autobiographical angle for the musician who says about his 30th solo release: “I love this album. It says the things I’ve been wanting to say for a very long time.”

This one was named #1 Jazz Recording of 2002 by the Los Angeles Times. It contains some of the most refined Barber compositions on record to date including the haunting "Clues", the sultry "I Could Eat Your Words" and the beautiful and poetic "If I Were Blue". A great band too including Dave Douglas on trumpet and Joey Baron on drums.

This one introduced Barber's powerful quartet of the time featuring John McLean on guitar and Mark Walker on drums. This might be the classic Barber album in that it blends pop covers, jazz standards, and original material in a thoroughly unique and interesting way. That was not the norm in 1994 as it would be years later. This one also features Barber's first attempt at setting poetry to music with "Mourning Grace", a haunting Maya Angelou work.

This marks the first album ever recorded of Australian guitar concertos, starring internationally acclaimed classical guitarist Karin Schaupp with two different orchestras. Schaupp turns her attention to these modern pieces, all composed between 1989 and 1995, by Ross Edwards, Philip Bračanin and Peter Sculthorpe, representing their major works for the instrument. A fourth piece, the inspiration for the album title, is Mosaic for Adrian Walter by Richard Charlton, himself a guitarist.
