A distinctive pianist whose unique, slip-note playing style came to typify the pop-oriented Nashville sound of the late 1950s and early '60s, session and solo musician Floyd Cramer was born October 27, 1933, in Louisiana. After a childhood spent largely in Arkansas, he returned to his home state in 1951 and began appearing on the radio program The Louisiana Hayride, where he performed with the likes of Jim Reeves, Faron Young, Webb Pierce, and, in his debut, Elvis Presley. While Cramer cut a few solo sides in 1953, his most important work in the early '50s was as a session musician, where he first met Chet Atkins, who encouraged the pianist to move to Nashville. He did in 1955, rejoining Atkins as the house pianist at RCA Records to begin developing what would ultimately be recognized as the Nashville sound, a style shorn of the elements associated with traditional country and honky tonk instead favoring a more polished, progressive sheen.

The Marshall Tucker Band celebrates the release of its first full-length concert on DVD with Live From The Garden State 1981 from their legendary 1981 MTV concert. SOUTHERN STEEL "Get On Through" out of Miami, Florida in 1974 firmly resides in the upper realms of rare early '70s southern rock LPs and the brilliant guitar interplay, vibrant vocals and finely crafted songs will seriously grab late '60s westcoast rock ears as well. It's really accessible stuff, heartfelt country inflected vocals with appealing vivid guitar textures and rhythms that fly. Echoes of Buffalo Springfield, Flying Burrito Brothers, Byrds, more on the rock than the country side but genuine about both. It's southern but it's also eastcoast-westcoast. In fact the opening track titled "San Francisco Man" is loaded with searing guitar licks and propulsive rhythmic action hitting pleasure points similar to the first Moby Grape LP. "Get On Through" contains thoughtful song oriented outdoors rock with little in the way of "south's gonna rise again" attitude, bluesy grit, bad women, whiskey, or hard livin' roadhouse action. These guys genuinely sound turned on to life, everyday regular dude seeker post '60s style and it is contagious. You can really feel it when the sweet southern fried dual guitar leads cascade out at just the right moment.

"Why Don't We Get Drunk," "Railroad Lady," and "Grapefruit – Juicy Fruit" rightly became crowd pleasers. But Buffett reveals himself a storyteller with the touching sigh of "He Went to Paris," where a slide guitar appears again to lend a subtle gleam to the arrangement, or in the gorgeous, sweetly sad tale of a passed-away poet's unlikely posthumous success. It's in this wide-eyed honesty, as well as the winking sarcasm of the scrambling honky tonker "Peanut Butter Conspiracy" – "We never took more than we could eat/And we always swore if we ever got rich, we'd pay the mini mart back" – that Buffett's flair for easygoing accessibility really emerges.

Burrito Deluxe is the second album by the country rock group the Flying Burrito Brothers, released in May 1970 on A&M Records, catalogue 4258. It is the last to feature Gram Parsons prior to his dismissal from the group. It contains the first issued version of the Mick Jagger/Keith Richards-written song "Wild Horses," released almost a year before The Rolling Stones own take on it appeared on Sticky Fingers.
