In April 2022 The Holy Family played the legendary Roadburn Festival in the Netherlands and enthralled a packed room. Now, two years on we are extremely happy to be able to share with you the live recording of this memorable event.

The second album by underground rock-and-beyond shapeshifters The Holy Family comes complete with a heavy concept for the psychedelically inclined, and pairs this with music which does this justice and then some. Go Zero follows up the British group’s widely praised self-titled debut from 2021 and – says foundational member David Jason Smith – “is based on a hypothetical theory that there is no such thing as ‘the future’. We are continually moving forward into our past until we arrive at our birth – creation – the Tree Of Knowledge… or ‘Going Zero’, as I’ve termed it.” It figures, then, that over some 40 minutes the five musicians conjure a sound that exhibits an affinity with great experimental totems down the ages, in a manner that’s avowedly forward-facing and stamped with their own identity.

After an impressive 2010s run of albums that earned him a devoted fanbase, accolades from outlets like The New York Times, Fresh Air, and Pitchfork, and a place in the upper echelon of modern Americana singer-songwriters, John Moreland has already taken two unexpected turns this decade, both of which highlight his fierce artistic independence. A few years ago, musician, writer and philosopher David Rothenberg invited me to join him in several musical projects involving the sounds of unique birds from around the world.

When William Steinberg was appointed music director of the Boston Symphony in 1969 as successor to Erich Leinsdorf, he attained the pinnacle of his career. No previous conductor had headed two top-ten US orchestras simultaneously. It was a condition of his Boston position that he could continue to work in Pittsburgh with the orchestra that he had headed since 1952. Born as Hans Wilhelm Steinberg in Cologne on 1 August 1899, he studied at the local conservatory with the conductor Hermann Abendroth and the pianist Lazzaro Uzielli, a Clara Schumann pupil. On graduating in 1920 he became Otto Klemperer’s assistant at the Cologne opera house.

Noted for its unbelievable sound quality, "Amazing Grace" was Franklin’s 1972 masterpiece. The multi-Platinum recording, one of her best, would win the GRAMMY Award for Best Soul Gospel Performance and remains one of the bestselling Gospel albums of all time. Included are the stunning tunes, “How I Got Over”, “You’ve Got A Friend”, and the hit single, “Wholy Holy”.

Queen of soul, Aretha Franklin has had an illustrious career, with 18 GRAMMY Awards, 2 lifetime achievement awards, and countless chart-topping hits, "Hey Now Hey" is one of Franklin’s finest releases. Produced by music genius, Quincy Jones, this experimental work features the powerhouse’s gospel-driven vocals producing a jazz/soul masterpiece. The album peaked at #2 on Billboard’s Top R&B charts and includes the gem “Angel”. Franklin, the first female to be inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame can now be experienced like never before.

Regarded as one of Aretha’s best albums off Atlantic Records, "Let Me In Your Life" reached #1 on Billboard’s Top R&B charts. Teaming up with legendary Atlantic producer Jerry Wexler, the queen of soul delivered her trademark vocal chops. The recording would yield three highly successful singles, “Until You Come Back To Me (That’s What I’m Gonna Do)”, “Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing” and “I’m In Love”. The track, “Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing” would win Aretha a GRAMMY for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.

Open Up and Say… Ahh! is the second studio album by American glam metal band Poison, released on April 27, 1988, through Enigma Records. It proved to be the band's most successful release, and spawned four hit singles: "Nothin' But a Good Time", "Fallen Angel", "Your Mama Don't Dance" (a Loggins and Messina cover) and their only number one single to date, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". The album peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200.

London based singer songwriter, Parry Ray, is delighted to be at The Piano Lounge after her sell-out show at The Pheasantry, Chelsea in early February. Known for her talent for deconstructing the songs we know and love and reinterpreting them into her own brand and style of jazz; Parry's new EP, out on 8 March is no exception.

Released in 1961, this volume in Ella Fitzgerald's essential Songbook series spotlights composer Harold Arlen and features such beloved classics as "Over The Rainbow", "Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate The Positive" and "That Old Black Magic", arranged and conducted by Billy May and produced by Norman Granz.

Recorded around the same time as her groundbreaking work with Louis Armstrong, this album is representative of Fitzgerald's best vocal work. Recorded over a two-day period in October, 1957, Fitzgerald sings familiar ballads on this release accompanied by lush orchestral arrangements courtesy of Frank DeVol, with tenor sax legend Stan Getz contributing to four songs.
