The final lineup of Deep Purple in the 1970s – Jon Lord, Ian Paice, David Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, and Tommy Bolin – lasted less than a year, and released only one album, Come Taste the Band. This 65-minute collection of June 1975 rehearsals represents the only other studio document of this lineup, and thus the only other available studio stuff Bolin did with Deep Purple save Come Taste the Band. Combining early versions of album tracks, and no less than four ten-minute jams, it doesn't represent an apex for the Purple ones. It's period hard rock, sounding at times like sub-Led Zeppelin. Deep Deep Purple [sic] fans will appreciate its importance as a historical relic, though, particularly as the sound is good. There's also a cover of "Statesboro Blues" and, as a true oddity, a shambolic, one-minute circus-like cover of "I Got You Babe."

The presentation here is as top-shelf as the other Black Jazz reissues handled by Real Gone – complete with notes by Pat Thomas – and titles include "Little B's Poem" and "Peace" by Doug & Jean Carn, "Chi Town Theme" by Cleveland Eaton, "Soul Daddy" and "Be All Your Own" by Kellee Patterson, "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life" and "Me & Mrs Jones" by Gene Russell, "Coral Keys (parts 1 & 2)" by Walter Bishop, "Moon Child (parts 1 & 2)" by Doug Carn, "Mr TJ (single edit)" and "Devon Jean" by Rudolph Johnson, "Gee Gee (parts 1 & 2)" by Calvin Keys, and "Powerhouse (parts 1 & 2)" by Chester Thompson.

In the Brahms Violin Concerto, the elegant soloist Henry Szeryng and the conductor Rafael Kubelík entered into a musical dialogue that was both subtly sensitive and quick-witted. This release has been digitally mastered from the original tapes for optimal sound quality, and is sure to delight a whole new generation of listeners.

Janne Mertanen (b. 1967) has become known primarily as a Chopin interpreter, and his repertoire does indeed cover almost all the piano music by this composer. Mertanen caught the attention of the musical public at large in 1992 on winning the International Chopin Competition in Darmstadt, Germany. This was followed in the same year by victory in the Nyborg Nordic Competition. His fi rst disc, a Chopin recital, was released in 1994. Two subsequent discs, Chopin Nocturnes vol 1–2, won prizes in the 6th International Record Competition Grand Prix du Disque Frédéric Chopin 2005 in Warsaw.

Saskia Giorgini presents Images, containing some of Claude Debussy's most colourful piano works. Starting with tuneful early works such as the Danse (Tarantelle styrienne) and Deux arabesques, Giorgini gradually works towards later, more ambitious pieces such as the Estampes and the two sets of Images, from which the album derives it's name. Debussy's music has always held an enormous attraction to Giorgini, and this album is the result of a years-long search to bring these mesmerising musical pictures to life. With her solo Liszt recordings, Giorgini has demonstrated a masterful touche and unique sense of colour, which makes Debussy's music an obvious next step.

'An Age Among Them' is the debut full length from London's Rinoa. In the short time since their EP release in 2008 the band have created a massive buzz and wowed crowds across the UK with their passionate, attention grabbing live show. In 2009 they released a split EP with label mates Bossk. 'An Age Among Them' is both mellow and extremely heavy. Sublime melody and subtle guitar work give way to soaring expansive sections, crushingly heavy yet epic and extremely emotive. Recorded and produced by Jonny Renshaw of Devil Sold His Soul.

Arriving four years after Static-X's big 2020 comeback, Project Regeneration, Vol. 2 is another satisfying assault of frantic "evil disco" - really just hopped-up industrial metal - from the surviving members of the band and the mysterious masked vocalist Xer0 (whose identity most fans have figured out already). Purported to be comprised of late frontman Wayne Static's final vocals and compositions left in the vault, the set was produced by Xer0 and mixed/mastered by Ulrich Wild. While Vol. 1 played on the nostalgia for the one-two punch of their most well-received albums, 1999's Wisconsin Death Trip and 2001's Machine, Vol. 2 digs into more muscular fare, echoing the band's more brutish aughts output like Shadow Zone and Start a War…

Since Neil Peart joined the band in time for 1975's Fly by Night, Rush had been experimenting and growing musically with each successive release. By 1980's Permanent Waves, the modern sounds of new wave (the Police, Peter Gabriel, etc.) began to creep into Rush's sound, but the trio still kept their hard rock roots intact. The new approach paid off – two of their most popular songs, the "make a difference" anthem "Freewill," and a tribute to the Toronto radio station CFNY, "The Spirit of Radio" (the latter a U.K. Top 15 hit), are spectacular highlights. Also included were two "epics," the stormy "Jacob's Ladder" and the album-closing "Natural Science," which contains a middle section that contains elements of reggae.

The former Deep Purple bassist Nick Simper's two long deleted Fandango albums are reissued here for the very first time. Taped in 1979 and 1980, both are no highly sought after albums. Future Times epecially so as it only received limited release first time around. The CD has been compiled with Nick Simper's help, and the fold out inlay details the history of the band in full. One track from each LP is omitted for timing reason. These will appear on a future RPM CD of Simper rarities from the '60s to the '80s.
