The Yardbirds are mostly known to the casual rock fan as the starting point for three of the greatest British rock guitarists: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page. Undoubtedly, these three figures did much to shape the group's sound, but throughout their career, the Yardbirds were very much a unit, albeit a rather unstable one. And they were truly one of the great rock bands; one whose contributions went far beyond the scope of their half dozen or so mid-'60s. For Your Love is the first American album by English rock band the Yardbirds. Released in July 1965, it contains new studio recordings along with previously released singles. The album features some of the earliest recordings by guitarists Eric Clapton and his replacement Jeff Beck.

Ringo Starr‘s fourth consecutive EP Crooked Boy includes four original tracks - all written and produced by Linda Perry for Starr to make his own, adding vocals and playing drums.
After previously collaborating on two songs that appeared on earlier Ringo EPs (Coming Undone on Change The World and Everyone And Everything on EP3), Linda approached Ringo and asked if she could produce an entire EP - and Crooked Boy, consisting of February Sky, Gonna Need Someone, Adeline and tht title track is the result.
“Linda made me a great EP - she produced it in her studio and then sent me the tracks and I added the drumming and my vocals,” Ringo said. “February Sky is great - very moody - but since Linda wrote these specifically for me, it of course has to have a positive peace and love element.”

Aware of the emergence of the New Wave artists and out of a desire to continually evolve, he announced the formation of Red Noise. The set also includes an outstanding complete live concert recorded in Leicester in 1979, newly mixed from the original 24-track tapes, a session recorded for BBC Radio One and a further Red Noise studio session from May 1979 plus a bonus CD of Bill Nelson's home demos. The set also includes video material, including the video for 'Revolt Into Style' and the band's session for the BBC TV show The Old Grey Whistle Test from February 1979.

Kicking off with “Born on the Bayou,” the album features the band’s biggest singles of the day, plus selections off their first three LPs, including “Commotion,” “Ninety-Nine and a Half (Won’t Do)” and “Bootleg.” Full of creative energy, John, Tom, Stu, and Doug delve deep into their music, playing extended improvisations of “I Put a Spell on You,” “Keep on Chooglin’” and “Suzie Q.”

On this 1986 debut, Steve Earle burst on the scene as a fully formed songwriting master, synthesizing effortlessly the finest parts of country-folk troubadours like Townes Van Zandt and the anthemic, working-class rock of Bruce Springsteen. "Someday," a country-rock masterpiece about a kid stuck pumping gas in a dead-end town, remains the perfect realization of this style, and with the exception of the slight and silly "Little Rock 'N' Roller," most everything else here (especially "Hillbilly Highway" and the heartbreaking ballad "My Old Friend the Blues") comes awfully close. The 2002 reissue, overseen by Earle and original producer Tony Brown, offers fresh remastering, new liner notes by Earle, and a bonus live version of Springsteen's "State Trooper."

A more succinct and straightforward anthology of the Housemartins than 1988's Now That's What I Call Quite Good!, 2004's The Best of the Housemartins is a 14-track overview that sticks to the basics. While it does not contain the significant BBC sessions, B-sides, and album cuts featured on Quite Good!, it does feature superior sound and all the material (such as "Happy Hour," "Sheep," "The People Who Grinned Themselves to Death," and their cover of the Isley Brothers' "Caravan of Love") that casual fans truly need. Most of the band's biggest fans will tell you, of course, that the two studio albums are absolutely necessary.

Bonnie Tyler's most recent studio album is a mixed bag of tricks – it contains mostly new songs (including her latest international hit, "Louise," in both French and English versions), as well as new recordings of some classics – namely "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and "It's a Heartache." The result is an uneven listen and it definitely falls shy of Tyler's Columbia Records or BMG International periods. Unfortunately, the addition of "Total Eclipse" and "It's a Heartache" merely serves to point out that Tyler's work used to be much more powerful and much more daring.

Nisennenmondai is the world’s best-kept secret among noise rock enthusiasts. Dischord Include Surprise 7" of Previously Unreleased Early Ian MacKaye Music in New Box Set. First Six Dischord Records includes five never-before-heard songs by the Slinkees. Last year, Dischord Records announced the box set First Six Dischord Records featuring reissues of the label’s first six 7" singles by Minor Threat, Government Issue, the Teen Idles, SOA, and Youth Brigade. Unbeknownst to those who pre-ordered a copy, the box set includes a surprise 7" of five songs by the Slinkees, Ian MacKaye’s first band, Pitchfork can confirm. “While most of the songs in this box set have been available in various formats since they were originally released, they have not been sold in their original 7" vinyl form since 1984,” reads a booklet in the box set. “As we said when reissuing some of this same music on LP that year, ‘…So few people got hold of the original records and so many more badgered us about them that we had to do something…’ It may have taken us another 36 years, but we are pleased to once again offer these early records in their original 7" EP format. As a bonus, we decided to include some unreleased music from our first band The Slinkees, predecessors to The Teen Idles who created Dischord to put out our posthumous 7" record.”
