It shouldn't have taken Johnson a full decade to find his way back into a studio, but such are the injustices of the record business. The wait was worth it, though - backed by his touring trio of the timeframe, Johnson mixes blues and soul, originals (a heartfelt "Black & White Wall" and the soaring ballad "My Ring") and covers (his takes on McKinley Mitchell's "End of a Rainbow" and Wilson Pickett's "Engine Number 9" hit home), in decidedly solid contemporary form.

Digitally re-mastered edition of the classic 1970 album featuring one bonus track: 'I'm a Thief'. Formed out of the ashes of the legendary group the Misunderstood, the band featured Ray Owen, Glen Campbell, Chris Mercer, Neil Hubbard, Keith Ellis and Pete Dobson. One of the first signings to Vertigo Records, Juicy Lucy's second album was a fine work and spawned their classic interpretation of Frank Zappa's 'Willie the Pimp'.

Duke Jordan, who played regularly with the Charlie Parker Quintet in 1947, was long known as a superior bebop pianist whose style was touched by the genius of Bud Powell's innovations. This quintet album, also featuring trumpeter Dizzy Reece and the young tenor Stanley Turrentine, gave Jordan an opportunity to record six of his originals and, although none became as well-known as his "Jordu," the music has plenty of strong melodies and variety. This is one of Duke Jordan's better recordings and is quite enjoyable. This reissue include "Diamond Stud" and "I Should Care" as bonus tracks.

English foursome Arc emerged from Skip Bifferty [aka Heavy Jelly] in 1970. They were a lesser but very talented blues-based heavy prog outfit comprised of Michael Gallagher's keys, Tom Duffy's bass, the drums of David Montgomery and guitarist John Turnbull. Occasionally compared to Patto though they also remind of Supertramp if that group had been young and hungry, Arc sound not unlike many bands of the era who took from what the Beatles had established but adding a harder, rawer feel mixed with the semi-classical sparks of early Yes, making 'At This' a respectable collector's item. Arc were songwriters at heart and composed surprisingly good material easily overshadowed by the other more well-versed, attention-getting acts. Clearly progressive however, and a fine example of early melodic Prog before things got so involved.

This anthology covers Tim Story's work between 1979 and 1986, serving up 18 pieces. Because there is no attempt to provide the pieces in chronological order (though the notes do indicate which album each piece comes from), there is no sense of Story's development as a composer - a later piece focusing on piano may well be followed by a more electronic piece. "Abridged" is a collection of small, floating still-life pieces, absorbing by dint of their lack of drama. Story's work draws the listener in, somehow capturing the attention by refusing to demand it - it's as easy to let the music fall into the background as to concentrate on it as a foreground element.

2018 brings the 100th anniversary of the birth of Leonard Bernstein (born on August 25th, 1918), one of the most celebrated composers of the 20th century.

Twin Peaks (Music From the Limited Event Series) and Twin Peaks (Limited Event Series Original Soundtrack) will both be released September 8 via Rhino. The soundtracks feature music from original “Twin Peaks” composer Angelo Badalamenti, as well as Chromatics.

The Rolling Stones’ first studio album of the new millennium, 2005’s A Bigger Bang, made its mark around the world. It charted in the top five in almost two dozen countries and earned Platinum or Gold certifications in the U.S., U.K., and other international territories. Messrs. Jagger, Richards, Watts, and Wood supported the album with A Bigger Bang, the tour, between 2005-2007 – and it became the highest-grossing concert tour of all time (until U2 usurped its crown). On February 8, 2006, the Stones took the proceedings to Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for a massive free concert. That show was captured on film and released to cinemas and DVD while the audio was broadcast on XM Radio. Now, the mega-show is coming to various formats in remixed, re-edited, and remastered form as The Rolling Stones: A Bigger Bang – Live on Copacabana Beach on July 9 from Eagle Rock Entertainment.
