This is a Japanese only release. The idea was to use Queen/solo songs that were used in Japanese commercials. A different tracklisting was originally planned with several Freddie Mercury songs but there were some "rights issues" so they were left off. The record label decided to use some Queen songs that were featured in motion pictures to replace the solo tracks. However, the Japanese packaging is what makes this a good buy for a Queen collector. It comes in a purple slipcase, inside is a 30+ page booklet (which is too big to fit into the jewel case itself) that features lyrics to the songs in both English and Japanese, color photos and an interview with Brian May. A nice little addition to your collection.

Still the Same… Great Rock Classics of Our Time is an album by Rod Stewart, released on 10 October 2006. After four years singing pop standards from the Great American Songbook with great success, this album continues the notion of singing old material, but now in his classic musical genre – rock. The album is produced by Clive Davis and John Shanks (the former also produced the American Songbook albums) and includes rock milestones from the last four decades, including "It's a Heartache", "Day After Day" and Creedence Clearwater Revival's classic "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?", which was picked as the first single from the album. The album debuted #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, making it his fifth Top 5 and second #1 debut in three years. Stewart said he was "extremely happy" with the accomplishment.

Pianist Misha Piatigorsky and Chris Wabich colead Sketchy Black Dog, a hybrid jazz piano trio and string quartet that specializes in proudly pyrotechnic renderings of Bowie, Hendrix and other classic-rock favorites.

Duo piano performances always have the possibility of being overcrowded, too dense and a bit directionless. Fortunately, this live set from the Montreal Bistro in Toronto, Canada avoids the potential flaws. Pianists Harold Mabern and Geoff Keezer (who also comprise 2/5ths of the Contemporary Piano Ensemble) have complementary styles and blend together quite well on the set. Dedicated to Phineas Newborn, with two of Newborn's songs included ("Jate" and "While My Lady Sleeps"), there are also selections by Leroy Vinnegar, Duke Pearson ("Jeannine"), Nat Cole and Mabern ("Rakin' & Scrapin"). Mabern takes Cole Porter's "I Get a Kick Out of You" as his feature, while Keezer is showcased solo on Thad Jones' "Consummation." A swinging high-quality set within the modern mainstream.

Dr. Lorna Griffitt began her performing career at 16 as a soloist with the Louisville Orchestra under the direction of Robert Whitney. She received her doctorate from Indiana University under the tutelage of Menahem Pressler. Dr. Griffitt enjoys an active career as soloist, chamber musician, and pedagogue both in the United States and in South America, Europe, and the Middle East. Her performances include appearances in New York at Carnegie Weill Recital Hall, a live broadcast from Washington DC on NPR's Performance Today, and a solo recital at Indiana University's Auer Hall in Bloomington, Indiana. Violinist Haroutune Bedelian is a professor at the University of California at Irvine, and a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London. He has performed in major cities, festivals and concert halls throughout North and South America, the United Kingdom, Europe and the Middle East and has appeared in numerous radio and television broadcasts.

CPO's latest CD featuring the Capella Orlandi brings together stage music by Gottfried Finger and John Eccles, who wrote songs for the famous English stage actress Anne Bracegirdle. At the end of the seventeenth century England's theatrical world was shaped by the defensive stance of traditionalists toward influences from the Italian opera and the magnificence radiating from the French court. The English counterproposal, the 'English opera', was a combination of 'heroic plays' with musical inserts ranging from individual songs, as were performed during Shakespeare's time, to 'all-sung masques', miniature operas with pastoral content. The Mad Lover is a good example of the English opera. On this recording song inserts from other masques are added to this comedy by John Fletcher from 1647. Anne Bracegirdle was so very successful with compositions by John Eccles that she later exclusively sang works by him.

Good music for the harp doesn't exactly grow on trees, and it would be small compliment to say that of all concertos for harp and orchestra, this one is the finest (…). The performance here makes the strongest possible case for this masterpiece, which deserves the widest possible circulation in concert. Ondine's Rautavaara series has revealed to music lovers one marvelous work after another, and with each new release Rautavaara's stature as one of the greatest composers working today only increases.

Billy Joel’s legendary 1990 concert at Yankee Stadium stands as one of the greatest concert films of all time. Shot in 16mm color film, the original concert has now been meticulously re-mixed and re-edited. The newly edited version includes a never-before-released performance of “Uptown Girl” along with interviews from Billy and behind-the-scenes footage from the event’s production. The set list consists of re-edited versions of songs from the original film including “Piano Man,” “We Didn’t Start The Fire,” “New York State Of Mind,” “Shout” and more - all live from the ionic stadium in The Bronx.

Originally released in 1987, Kick the Wall was the debut album from Memphis-based melodic rockers Jimmy Davis & Junction, who scored a Top 40 hit with the title track but never quite got the support and audience they needed to make it big. Davis and his bandmates had a sound that was perfect for radio at the time, bringing in elements of rock, pop, and heartland AOR.

Named Premier Male Vocalist by the Memphis chapter of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences in 1998, Jimmy Davis is an integral part of the music scene of Memphis, Tennessee. A founding member of the RiverBluff Clan in the mid-'70s, Davis performed with the re-formed group beginning in the early '90s. In between, he served as acoustic and electric guitarist and sang lead vocals for Jimmy Davis & Junction, a group he formed with RiverBluff Clan guitarist, violinist, mandolinist, and vocalist Tommy Burroughs. Their most successful single, "Kick the Wall," was released in 1987. A skilled songwriter, Davis has written tunes for Martina McBride and Restless Heart.

War Child was Jethro Tull's first album after two chart-toppers, Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play, and was one of those records that was a hit the day it was announced (it was certified platinum based on pre-orders, the last Tull album to earn platinum record status). It never made the impression of its predecessors, however, as it was a return to standard-length songs following two epic-length pieces. It was inevitable that the material would lack power, if only because the opportunity for development that gave Thick as a Brick and A Passion Play some of their power. Additionally, the music was no longer quite able to cover for the obscurity of Tull's lyrics ("Two Fingers" being the best example). The title track is reasonably successful, but "Queen and Country" seems repetitive and pointless…
