A TRIPLE-CD of radio broadcast live recordings of Minneapolis' finest. Two of the discs feature Hüsker Dü live action, taped at a 1981 show in Portland and in Minneapolis 1985. Disc #3 features a fine 1989 performance, given by singer-guitarist Bob Mould (after the band split up) at a radio station in Germany.

This CD features one of the most frequently performed Finnish orchestral works of all time, Cantus Arcticus - Concerto for Birds and Orchestra by Einojuhani Rautavaara, which is coupled with Symphonies Nos. 4 and 5. This release is the second volume in a cycle featuring the complete symphonies by Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara. The recordings were made in Leipzig in 1989/1990, with the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra led by its then Chief Conductor Max Pommer, and originally released in July 1990.

Franz Schubert’s masterpiece, his song cycle Winterreise(‘Winter Journey’), was written shortly before his death in 1828, at the age of only 31. On his winter journey, the singer wanders as a lost soul in harsh terrain, wracked by conflicting emotions, but consoled by his memories of kinder times. A contemporary take on the Berlin School of Electronic Music movement (Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Michael Hoenig), Breidablik’s music is instrumental and mainly created using analogue synthesizers (although acoustic and electric guitars, as well as flutes and percussion, also constitute an important part of the music.

Gloria Gaynor’s perennial and iconic worldwide smash “I Will Survive” has received the special modern remix treatment by dance music producer Eric Kupper. On June 12, 2020, “I Will Survive (The Eric Kupper Remixes),” featuring three new remixes, will be released as a digital EP by UMe.
Written by Freddie Perren and Dino Fekaris and originally released in October 1978, the chart-topping single was destined to be a B-Side for the song “Substitute.” But the astute Gaynor saw the powerful potential in the track and the song found its audience. “‘I Will Survive’ has become an anthem around the globe for people facing challenges and tragedies in their life,” says Gaynor. “And now more than ever, we need to help each other and provide encouragement and inspiration through music whenever possible."

British orchestras and their audiences have long held a special affinity for the orchestral works of Jean Sibelius, and the Hallé's venerable tradition of playing his music continues in this superb recording of the Symphony No. 5 in E flat major, the Symphony No. 7 in C major, and the symphonic poem En Saga. Mark Elder's straightforward interpretations are clear-headed and meticulous yet intensely passionate, and the orchestra responds to his direction by digging deep and playing with a commitment that is nearly perceptible. These symphonies and En Saga are representative of Sibelius' mature style, so their deliberate pacing and steady unfolding of motives into organic developments over long time spans require attentive listening, but the clarity of Elder's readings makes the progress of the music easy to follow. Add to this the exceptional reproduction, which brings out every detail with crispness, and presents the Hallé's warm and rich sonorities with credible presence, and the end result is a nearly ideal presentation of Sibelius' music.
