On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the Salzburg Easter Festival presents a 'Re-creation' of Die Walküre: of Herbert von Karajans musico-theatrical vision of the 19th century masterwork, with which the legendary Maestro opened the very first Easter Festival in 1967. The top-ranking ensemble of singers performs in the faithfully reconstructed scenery of the original production with impressive video backdrops inspired by the original glass paintings. Christian Thielemann, who has been assistant of Karajan in his beginnings, counts among the worlds foremost Wagner conductors, ' there is an absolute polish to this performance that is exceptional' writes the financial Times about the conductor and orchestra. The critics are full of praise for this 'musically ravishing Walküre' (Frankfurter Allgmeine) and its excellent ensemble of soloists'.

Circle of One is the third album by the American vocalist, pianist and songwriter Oleta Adams and was released in 1990. Circle of One was Adams' first album to receive wide distribution; her two earlier albums (an untitled album in 1982 and Going on Record in 1983) were self-financed and only received local distribution.

Now AXEL RUDI PELL releases his 18th (!) studio album in 31 years with "Sign Of The Times". But not the quantity but the quality is decisive. He himself can't do much with the term, "but if you've been so successful for so long, then maybe you've earned it. This not only sounds down-to-earth, but is also meant to be. "When we played in Moscow last year, many fans called me a 'legend'. My answer was, "I'm just a guitarist." No more, but no less either. Because the 59-year-old knows what he can do and still surprises himself, as in the case of "Sign Of The Times". "I don't know what it is, but this time I finished composing a month ahead of schedule."

This is a straightforward bundle – a digital download release – of Chic's eight studio albums for the Atlantic label. Chic (1977), C'est Chic (1978), Risqué (1979), Real People (1980), Take It Off (1981), Tongue in Chic (1982), Believer (1983), and Chic-Ism (1992) are combined in one set, sold at a price significantly less than the sum of the individual tracks. There are no bonus tracks – just the albums straight up, as they were originally released.

The excellent bop drummer Stan Levey, who retired from playing in the 1960s to become a full-time photographer, led five record dates during 1954-1957 of which this set for MOD (which has been reissued on CD by the V.S.O.P. label) was the last one. Levey gathered together quite an impressive lineup (trumpeter Conte Candoli, Richie Kamuca on tenor, pianist Lou Levy, and bassist Monty Budwig) to perform two of Kamuca's originals, three standards and the rarely played "Ole Man Rebop." All of the musicians are in prime form, displaying contrasting but complementary styles. This swinging date is easily recommended.

Here at Athens of the North you know we love Disco, what you might not know is that my friend David Haffner (not only the deepest of disco heads but a great D.J as well) helped us license many of the rare Disco 45s on the label. It is about time David gets the shine he deserves so we asked him to compile some of the songs he helped licence for the label alongside new songs which we have here‘Disco With A Feeling’. So what is ‘Disco With A Feeling’? It’s hard to quantify a sound, but our definition would include 70s Soul or Modern Soul 45s that fit into the disco sound, soulful and magical. The whole LP is straight up dance-floor fire, no matter who you are or where you’re from - a soul boy, disco lady, or a house head you are going to feel the heat of these club smashers.

Silver Pozzoli started his solo career in 1984, having previously been the project's singer. His biggest hit titled "Around My Dream" made it into the German TOP 10 and hit the charts in many other countries in Europe. The double CD "Greatest Hits & Remixes" provides an overview of the career of the Italian star. In addition to the radio versions on CD1 and remixes on CD2, there are two exclusive and previously unpublished megamixes.

Art Of Noise pioneered the technique of sampling sounds and blending them into a melodic collage that defied simple classification.
