At the age of 14 he was performing with the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra. From the age of 17, he was guesting with some of the best swing bands including Gene Krupa and Bob Crosby and he recorded ‘Trumpet Cha Cha’. By 1958 he was working as a record producer and he produced several of Connie Francis’ hit singles. He also had success with Herman’s Hermits and Johnny Tillotson.

Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music.
This was the breakthrough album for Kansas, lyrically and musically it´s hard to beat. The album opens with "Carry On Wayward Son" which I´m sure almost everyone has heard!

Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection.
I really don't like the opening bar-room boogie tune It Takes A Woman's Love To Make A Man, but aside from that this album is a near flawless example of Kansas' particular brand of art-rock.

Essential: a masterpiece of progressive rock music.
I remember watching Don Kirshner's Rock Concert in the early 70's and seeing a band called KANSAS playing a song I loved; it was "Can I Tell You."

This new album features premiere recordings of contemporary works for solo violin composed by Canadian women and performed by Nova Scotia violinist Dr. Gillian Smith. Works include ""Cinque Danze per Violino Solo"" by JUNO award winning composer Ana Sokolovic, ""Versprechen"" by Kati Agocs (now a composition professor at New England Conservatory) and ""Inside the Stone"" from Canadian-Australian composer Veronika Krausas. Recorded at the beautiful stone sanctuary at First Baptist Church Halifax, these recordings show the intense, passionate and imaginative works of Canadian women composers for solo violin, very few of which have been previously recorded.

In his new Saxophone Concerto, Gabriel Prokofiev explores a side of classical music usually seen as forbidden by modern contemporary composers: melody. This aspect was incorporated at the request of the soloist, Branford Marsalis, allowing Prokofiev to revisit characteristics of the classical tradition not usually heard in contemporary music, giving the saxophone an open canvas.
