This pioneering recording, which was first released in 1995 as a set of four conventional CDs, contains the complete solo lute pieces ascribed to John Dowland. As opposed to the composer’s lute songs and instrumental dances, which Dowland himself carefully prepared for publication, his lute solos have survived in much less reliable versions. Jakob Lindberg, lute professor at the Royal College of Music, brought all of his expertise to bear in preparing the scores and choosing among variant versions for his recordings, and also wrote the informative liner notes included in this edition.

Upon seeing the `New Age Collection’ tag on the front cover of Rick Wakeman’s `Country Airs’, I expected to find a disc full of faceless digital synths to backing sounds of nature and stormy rainforests.

This record has many excellent piano and floating mellotron parts. Organ, clavinet and mini moog are also at the rendez-vous.

This is a VERY underrated album from Rick Wakeman, the Yes' keyboardist. Wakeman here is supported by the excellent English Rock Ensemble, made of Tony Fernandez on drums, Ashley Holt on lead vocals and some brass instruments musicians, among others.

Chris Squire's single solo effort is an essential masterpiece. It certainly is not a lost Yes album just merely Squire's exceptional creation which demonstrates his importance in progressive rock and equally his influence in this genre.

This is Odetta's first studio release in over a decade, but time doesn't appear to have affected her interpretive skills or the range and quality of her voice, which remains one of the most remarkable instruments in American folk and blues music to date. The 15 tracks on Blues Everywhere I Go tell what Odetta calls "the other side" of the African-American blues story. Most of the tunes were written by artists like Sipie Wallace, Huddie Ledbetter, Big Bill Broonzy, Victoria Spivey and Thelma Lowe.

The youngest Neville Brother he may be, but Cyril Neville's accomplishments are as impressive as those of his older siblings. He played with his brother Aaron in various soul and funk outfits before joining the Meters full-time in the early '70s, and was one of the prime movers in getting his brothers together as the Neville Brothers. His discography is just as eclectic as the rest of the family's; he's played percussion and keyboards on records by Bob Dylan, Robbie Robertson, Edie Brickell, Willie Nelson, Los Hombres Calientes, and dozens of others.

Bent Out of Shape is the seventh studio album released by the British hard rock band Rainbow. It was originally released in August 1983 as an LP and cassette. The cassette featured several longer edits compared to the vinyl version. It was recorded at Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen in about 7 weeks. The song "Street of Dreams" has been re-recorded in two versions by Blackmore's Night in 2006 for their fifth studio album, The Village Lanterne. The version featured on a regular album was sung by Candice Night. The other version, a bonus track on a special edition of the album, was performed in a duet by Night and former Rainbow singer Joe Lynn Turner. In 1984, "Anybody There" was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

The Gipsy Kings are a group of flamenco, salsa and pop musicians from Arles and Montpellier in the south of France who perform in Andalusian Spanish. Although group members were born in France, their parents were mostly gitanos, Spanish gypsies who fled Catalonia during the 1930s Spanish Civil War. They are known for bringing Catalan rumba, a pop-oriented music distantly derived from traditional flamenco music, to worldwide audiences. The group originally called itself Los Reyes.

SLICK! - Live at Oil Can Harry’s is a never-before-released recording from jazz guitar great Grant Green captured live on September 5, 1975 at a popular club in Vancouver, BC Canada called Oil Can Harry’s. Featuring a primarily Detroit-based band with Emmanuel Riggins (father of drummer Karriem Riggins) on electric piano, Ronnie Ware on bass, drummer Greg “Vibrations” Williams (Jack McDuff, Lou Donaldson) and Gerald Izzard on percussion, Slick!’s centerpiece is the over 30 minute funk exploration medley of Stanley Clarke’s “Vulcan Princess,” “Skin Tight” by the Ohio Players, Bobby Womack’s “Woman’s Gotta Have It,” “Boogie On Reggae Woman” by Stevie Wonder and “For the Love of Money” by the O’Jays.

Emmanuelle Swiercz started the piano at 9. Two years later she gave her first performance with an orchestra. At the age of 16 she was unanimously accepted by the jury of the National Superior Conservatory of music and dance in Paris into the classes of Michel Béroff, Denis Pascal and Marie-Françoise Bucquet. In 1999, after graduating with distinction, she took part in proficiency courses and simultaneously attended master-classes with György Sebök, György Kurtág, Dmitri Bashkirov, Leon Fleisher and Murray Perahia.
