With her new album Same Girl Youn Sun Nah is still on a musical voyage, exploring and experimenting with different musical styles and genres. Again the song material is very diverse, but she is still the same girl the audience has come to know and love, surprising the listener with songs that have been interpreted in highly individual and distinctive ways, and which break free from the usual stylistic constraints. I didn t want to be confined to a particular repertoire but reflect all possible moments of my life, she explains. That s why I think the album is atmospherically much more diverse than Voyage and, in certain respects, it has more depth and reflects even more aspects of my personality.

Having lightened up on his political concerns and domestic strife on the cover-filled Dreamland Express, John Denver returned to both on One World. On the title track, he adopted the persona of a Caribbean man complaining about his homeland being referred to as the Third World, and hinting about revolution. On "Let Us Begin (What Are We Making Weapons For?)," he managed both to take on the farm crisis, and to expound on pacifism in the same song.

John Denver continued to proselytize for his favorite causes, love, peace, and freedom (in the great outdoors), on It's About Time, but on a personal level he was fending off depression due to the woman who dumped him on his last album, Seasons Of The Heart (presumably his wife Anne, from whom he was divorced in 1983). Then, he had seemed reconciled to the breakup, singing with gentle equanimity about people who just can't get along. By It's About Time, he wasn't keeping up that much of a front.

Well, not so funny from the standpoint of John Mayer, whose appendicitis attack and subsequent emergency surgery on December 5th necessitated postponement until the following February of the show scheduled for that night in New Orleans and the remaining two dates in Florida. But hey… if you’re gonna strand several thousand music-hungry fans anywhere, you could hardly pick a better place than New Orleans, birthplace of so much of our shared cultural heritage and a town where music and good times (and great food!) are continuously and abundantly available.
