Making her Telarc debut, Ann Hampton Callaway comes out strong with Blues in the Night, featuring the title track she made famous in the musical 'Swing'. There are fiery original tunes such as 'I'm-Too-White to-Sing-the-Blues, ' 'Swingin'Away the Blues,' and 'Hip to Be Happy'. Ann brings in a cache of performers to guide her through the night including the DIVA Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Sherrie Maricle, her longtime accompanist Ted Rosenthal, Christian McBride, and Lewis Nash. Ann also performs a medley 'Stormy Weather / When the Sun Comes Out' with her sister Liz Callaway.

Korean-born Dutch harpist Lavinia Meijer states as her goal "to make the harp better known as a solo instrument, with all its possibilities which are often still unknown to the wider audience." With this release she accomplishes her goal, not so much technically as musically. The harp does not do so much here that the attentive listener to the big early film scores won't have heard before. But Meijer's album falls nicely into the group of releases that are reconstructing the virtuoso solo repertoire of a century ago, rediscovering gems that were swept aside by self-serving modernist imperatives.

Head over Heels is the eighth studio album by the American country rock band Poco, and their first on ABC Records.
