Despite the societal ills that dominate our screens, private struggles still exist, and Daugherty's debut Light gives them palatable, manageable, and satisfying form. "I wrote this record partly to strip mental illness of its power," Daugherty says. She adds, "There is nothing useful or beautiful to be gleaned from the experience of depression."

The legendary 88-year-old clarinetist Rolf Kühn presents his new single "Yellow And Blue", the first foretaste for his upcoming eponymous album, which celebrates its release on June 1st via MPS Records. Three years after the release of Sullivan Fortner’s charming Impulse! Records debut, Aria, the 31-year-old New Orleans-bred pianist and composer returns with his enchanting sophomore effort, Moments Preserved, which finds him leading a sterling trio with bassist Ameen Saleem and drummer Jeremy “Bean” Clemons. Produced by Grammy-winning Brian Bacchus, Moments Preserved arrived at the end of a productive recording period; Fortner participated on six recording sessions in less than two months. Nevertheless, he hails Moments Preserved as one of the “most honest and emotionally direct” albums he’s made yet.

Promising his most personal to date, the album is named after Ray's grandfather, Amos, who was a huge influence on him not just musically - also in fueling his love for country music. In fact, Ray first began singing and performing in his grandfather's band when he was only nine years old. To this day he still plays Amos' hand-me-down guitar, a 1978 Les Paul, as a reminder of the time they spent together sharing stories, learning songs and making memories.

Most people would agree that there’s nothing stronger, more durable and occasionally, even more volatile, than the bond between brothers. And when that bond includes the common goal of making music, the results often offer reason for an audience to sit up and take notice. LUMP was born of good timing and predestined compatibility. It began when Mike Lindsay - a prolific, Mercury prize-winning producer - was introduced to Grammy-nominated, Brit award-winning singer-songwriter Laura Marling after her show supporting Neil Young in London. LUMP is a heady blend of wonked-out guitars, Moog synths and pattering drums, set against droning, coiling clouds of flutes and voices. The lyrics are inspired by early-20th-century Surrealism and the absurdist poetry of Edward Lear and Ivor Cutler - a bizarre but compelling narrative about the commodification of curated public personas, the mundane absurdity of individualism, and the lengths we go to escape our own meaninglessness.

While the triple-CD deluxe boasts a massive 52 tracks, the single vinyl LP edition is a extremely condensed 11-track affair.
