Three-time Grammy-nominated piano prodigy Joey Alexander is premiering the title track from his upcoming Eclipse album exclusively on Billboard. The young artist's musicianship and knowledge of jazz and classical fundamentals are embraced on this free, peaceful 10-minute track. He approached "Eclipse" with subtle sounds and delicate harmonies. After seeing the eclipse, I was inspired to compose something new," the 14-year-old told Billboard. "It was a little intimidating to play those first notes, knowing it would be the only take. I was relieved after listening back in the control room. It’s what I really love, composing freely in the moment, listening and reacting to the band, creating something new and moving to another place.

On his last two on impulses! Records released albums provided Kenny Barron with small casts for magical moments. In 2014, the pianist demonstrated "The Art Of Conversation" in intimate musical dialogues with bassist Dave Holland. The recording was named the album of the year by the Jazz Journalists Association. His "Book Of Intuition" he played in 2016 again in a trio with bassist Kiyoshi Kitagawa and drummer Johnathan Blake. The extensive discography of Kenny Barron is paved with such high-profile duo and trio recordings abundantly.

Dinosaur’s second album is as electrifyingly different as anyone who knows Laura Jurd’s track record would expect. Never one to be labeled, the fearsomely talented and multiple award-winning Jurd has a Miles-like way of taking her work and tuning it to illuminate a vast array of musical worlds. She’s done orchestrated and meticulously composed; jazz rock grooves; electronic minimalism; mainstream jazz and now, with her new album, Wonder Trail, and band Dinosaur, keyboard maestro Elliot Galvin to the fore, she’s plundered the synth-pop of the 1980s for a new sound. But this is not gratuitous borrowing, or any kind of hipsterish, retro post-modernism. For one, these are very current sounds (Broen’s an indie band with similar reference points that comes up in conversation). And for two, Jurd and Galvin use the poptastic-ness of the keyboard sound as a sort of tin opener to get into all kinds of serious musical areas - improvisation, vocodered strangeness, strutting rockishness, bucolic folkiness. But, as with any proper stylistic amalgam, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

It’s his first record in 8 long years and a lot has changed for Benjamin Drew, alias Plan B. Most importantly, he has a four year old daughter now, that has changed his outlook on life. However, Plan B bemoans he’s sacrificed a lot for this record, as he has been away from his daughter for 3 long months. This sacrifice has produced 14 tracks that are full of grit and emotion. The artist has evolved from his early rapping days, citing that he has “nothing to be angry about” as he is content with his current surroundings, and so he doesn’t find it necessary to use this form of expression anymore.

John Williams: A Life In Music – a brand new album of iconic movie scores by the world’s most successful film composer – including Star Wars, Jurassic Park, E.T. and many more. The album, which will be released on May the 4th (International Star Wars Day) features brand new recordings with the London Symphony Orchestra, who recorded many of the original versions, and includes a world premiere recording of Schindler’s List for cello - which has never been heard before.

“Awase”, a term from martial arts, means “moving together” in the sense of matching energies, a fitting metaphor for the dynamic precision, tessellated grooves and balletic minimalism of Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin. Six years have passed since the last release from the Swiss group. In the interim, trimmed from quintet to quartet size and with new bassist Thomy Jordi fully integrated, Ronin has become a subtly different band. Bärtsch speaks of a new-found freedom and flexibility in the approach to the material, with “greater transparency, more interaction, more joy in every performance”.

Gaz Coombes thrives on progress. By the time his former band Supergrass dissolved in 2010, the group had shed its fizzy Britpop roots and grown into a sophisticated outfit hopscotching between all kinds of extroverted sounds: obsidian glam, lush orchestral rock, and blustering blues. As a solo artist, Coombes has continued pushing his sonic range forward, toward a realm that's far more intimate and experimental than the one in which Supergrass operated.

On his brilliant 2015 debut album, Coming Home, Texas singer/songwriter Leon Bridges invited comparisons to Sam Cooke and Otis Redding with his authentic take on soul. Good Thing, his 2018 follow-up, finds Bridges leaving the ’50 and ’60s, instead embracing ’70s icons like The Stylistics (“Bet Ain’t Worth the Hand”) and Chic (“You Don’t Know”). More surprises come in “If It Feels Good (Then It Must Be)” and “Bad Bad News,” contemporary jams that show he can swag it out with the likes of Usher and Pharrell too. Bridges' warm tenor is sturdy and smoky as mesquite wood as he combines deep emotions and nimble wordplay on “Beyond,” “Forgive You,” and “Georgia to Texas”—a moving story of his family’s history.

Legendary group The Temptations are pleased to announce their first new album in eight years, All The Time. To be released on May 4, All The Time features inspired renditions of songs by Sam Smith, Bruno Mars, John Mayer, Maxwell, Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson, and The Weeknd, and three new, original Temptations songs. The album’s digital format includes two tracks available for immediate download and streaming today with album preorder, as well as two bonus track remixes.

American jazz pianist Claude Williamson, although born in Vermont, moved to California early in his career and worked with West Coast jazz heavyweights Art Pepper, Max Roach, Bud Shank and Stan Levey. Williamson also spent a portion of his career in television, starting in the late 1960s, including stints with both The Andy Williams Show and Sonny and Cher. For this 2002 Venus release he is joined by Andy Simpkins (bass) and Al "Tootie" Heath (drums).

Lake Street Dive will release Free Yourself Up, its second album with Nonesuch Records, on May 4. The four-member band—drummer Michael Calabrese, bassist Bridget Kearney, singer Rachael Price, and guitarist/trumpeter Michael "McDuck" Olson—self-produced the album at Goosehead Palace Studios in Nashville, TN, with engineer Dan Knobler. Tour dates to support Free Yourself Up begin with an intimate show at The Sinclair in the band's original home of Boston on release day.
