The Munich Philharmonic has arguably given more performances of Anton Bruckner’s music than any other orchestra. A great number of Bruckner recordings lead by the many legendary conductors that have worked for and with the Munich Philharmonic are stored in the historical archive of the MPHIL Label including magnificent pieces with Sergiu Celibidache, Christian Thielemann, Rudolf Kempe, Günter Wand and Oswald Kabasta.

Memories — places, vacancies, allusions — are fundamental characters in Mary Lattimore's evocative craft. Inside her music, wordless narratives, indefinite travelogues, and braided events skew into something enchantingly new. The Los Angeles-based harpist recorded her breakout 2016 album, At The Dam, during stops along a road trip across America, letting the serene landscapes of Joshua Tree and Marfa, Texas color her compositions. In 2017, she presented Collected Pieces, a tape compiling sounds from her past life in Philadelphia: odes to the east coast, burning motels, and beach town convenience stores.

Jonny Greenwood is reissuing his 2003 soundtrack album Bodysong in a digitally remastered version. The LP consists of music the Radiohead multi-instrumentalist and composer wrote for Simon Pummell’s 2003 documentary of the same name. The album, famously, featured a track that was later incorporated into Greenwood’s breakout score for 2007’s There Will Be Blood. Unlike that soundtrack, Bodysong features a wide sound and stylistic palette, incorporating electronic elements. Greenwood’s brother and fellow Radiohead member Colin Greenwood also plays on the album. The reissued album will come out in gatefold vinyl and CD editions on May 18.

Chief conductor Mariss Jansons leads his Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on this live performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 1, recorded in Amsterdam in 2006. This album has earned Jansons and the RCO great praise for a skillful, energetic and evocative interpretation, called "as good as live performance can get" by BBC Music Magazine.

Ohio-bred songwriter Clarence Bucaro will release his latest album Passionate Kind on May 18. He’s offered up a first taste of the album in the form of “Where Do I Go,” a contemplative folk song that considers Bucaro’s place in an increasingly tumultuous social climate.

Jennifer Castle's "Angels of Death" is an ethereal, deeply poetic take on the subject — nimble, sure-footed and beautifully written and performed.

On May 18th, Partisan Records will release 'Deran,' the new full-length album from Niger-born Tuareg guitar virtuoso, Bombino. 'Deran' - which loosely translates to "best wishes" - is Bombino's most focused, compelling, and diverse statement to date, and delivers a message of hope and well-wishes to the world in a time of great pain and tumult.

A mysterious beauty: In response to a commission from Count Troyer, who wanted a work closely modelled on Beethoven’s famous Septet op.20, Schubert – despite his fervent admiration for the older composer – resolutely struck out on his own by delivering an . . . Octet. While the enlarged forces opened his path towards symphonic writing, examination of the form and expression reveals a much more accomplished and personal composition than has generally been recognised by commentators. Isabelle Faust and her partners, enthralled by what is an exceptional work in every respect, offer us a new interpretation of it on period instruments.

After two albums which met with unanimous critical acclaim all over the world, the Resonanz Ensemble, based in Hamburg, is offering a recording dedicated to Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach: the Cello Concertos wq. 170 and Wq. 172, respectively from 1750 and 1753, and the Symphonie Wq. 173 of 1741.

Loreena McKennitt’s first release of original material since 2006, Lost Souls is a rich and culturally eclectic recording, which one has come to expect from this unique artist. It is a rich tapestry of contemporary thoughts woven with threads from the Celts to the Bedouins, stitched with the sounds of a diverse collection of musical voices, including nyckelharpa, oud, kanoun, a military band and flamenco guitar. An exotic musical journey like no other. The album is available worldwide on May 11th.

The film adaptation of On Chesil Beach pays tribute to the 2007 novella (and Booker Prize shortlist entry) by British writer Ian McEwan. Creating sweeping and poignant soundscapes to accompany the film is Dan Jones - a multi award-winning composer and sound designer whose recent credits include Louis Theroux’s documentary feature, My Scientology Movie, the primetime BBC drama series SS-GB and The Replacement, the second series of BBC’s hugely successful The Hollow Crown, Menno Meyjes’ feature, De Reünie, Carnival’s The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies and Ecosse Films’ The Great Fire.

A joyful Trinity: Graham Ross concludes his exploration of music for the liturgical calendar with a programme focusing on the Holy Trinity, as reflected in music of the Russian and British traditions. From the works of the New Russian Choral School led by Tchaikovsky to more modern pieces such as those of Britten, with excursions into the Renaissance and contemporary creation, Graham Ross skilfully brings out the multiple correspondences between the choral traditions that have become established over the centuries around the mystery of the Trinity.

Mariss Jansons joins one of the greatest Mahler traditions in the world with his first album leading the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra on a Mahler symphony. For this 2005 live recording, Jansons and the RCO provide a superbly impressive performance of Mahler’s Sixth Symphony, one of the greatest and most dramatic of Mahler’s works. The programme also includes the world premiere of Hans Werner Henze’s Sebastian im Traum.

38 Special is a prime example of an AOR band with deep roots in Southern rock. The band hails from Florida, and vocalist Donnie Van Zant is the brother of none other than Lynyrd Skynyrd's Ronnie and Johnny Van Zant. The group's 1982 album, Special Forces, included the flawless Top Ten rocker "Caught Up in You," which injected the mainstream with a shot of much-needed grit.
