Dizzie was one of the seminal figures of the bebop movement. These historic recordings bear witness to an important phase in the career of this exceptional trumpeter.

Tenorist Harry Allen serves up a great French lullaby of his own – crafted together from the work of famous Parisian songwriters like Michel Legrand, Charles Trenet, and others – and delivered here in a small combo instrumental mode! Following his Alpha recording of sonatas by Prokofiev, Ravel and Strauss, the violinist Tobias Feldmann now turns to the concerto form, performing the two major works of the Finnish repertoire for the instrument: the violin concertos of Jean Sibelius and Einojuhani Rautavaara. Premiered in Helsinki in 1904, the Sibelius Concerto proved to be exceptionally difficult technically for the soloist.

The Equatorial Group's music has been described in many ways; ramshackle folk-rock, space country, languid Americana. but, perhaps more importantly they believe it to be honest and sincere, derivative of their influences and kissed by their love of simple countrified sonic landscapes. Their 'sound', based primarily around pedal steel, heartfelt vocals and dreamy four part harmonies, has been likened to Fleetwood Mac, The Magnolia Electric Company and Emmylou Harris that said they've not been afraid to embrace the inner 'Crazy Horse'.

The title is a quotation from a similarly titled poem by Gerard Manley Hopkins, slightly misquoting a poem by William Wordsworth called "My Heart Leaps Up". In 2003, the album was ranked number 264 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time.

Blood, Sweat & Tears 3 is the third album by the band Blood, Sweat & Tears, released in 1970. After the huge success of their previous album, Blood, Sweat & Tears 3 was highly anticipated and it rose quickly to the top of the US album chart. It also yielded two hit singles: a cover of Carole King's "Hi-De-Ho", and "Lucretia MacEvil". However, the album relied heavily on cover material and it received lukewarm reviews.

Blood, Sweat & Tears 4 is the fourth album by the band Blood, Sweat & Tears, released in 1971. The band invited former member Al Kooper to contribute the song "John the Baptist (Holy John)." Trombonist Dave Bargeron replaced Jerry Hyman. David Clayton-Thomas left as lead vocalist to pursue a solo career after the release of BS&T 4, as did founding members Dick Halligan and Fred Lipsius. The album peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Pop albums chart.

Open Heart Story is a contemplative and uplifting journey ranging from intimate solo piano pieces to emotive works for a 23-piece string orchestra interwoven with subtle electronics. It opens with a beautiful piano piece called “Prelude for a Single Voice” – an homage to the composer J.S. Bach whose music continues to inspire Howard. The track “Remembering My Childhood” was influenced by Ryuichi Sakamoto and the Yellow Magic Orchestra - music he used to listen to when he was growing up.

Exquisite dialogue The church cantata very quickly came to occupy a privileged place in Bach's output, but it was in his Leipzig period that he explored new stylistic possibilities for the genre in several cycles. The third of these, mostly scored for relatively small forces, features in these Dialogkantaten three fine examples of the 'madrigalian' type: in their arias, recitatives and chorales, the composer deploys a poetry that does not exclude audacity and an eloquence worthy of opera. These fervent musical conversations are here conducted con brio thanks to the rapport between two singers as moving as they are inspired.
