Since 1979 Dominique Vellard has been the inspirational driving force behind the Ensemble Gilles Binchois : more than 35 years of research and performance that have led to the creation of some of the essential recordings, especially of music from the medieval and Renaissance periods. An outstanding catalogue of recordings devoted to the music of Machaut, the Notre-Dame School, the Burgundian repertoire, early french polyphony or the spanish Renaissance, on labels such as Virgin Classics, Harmonic Records, Ambroisie, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Glossa y Aparté, have met public, critical and musicological acclaim. The Ensemble Gilles Binchois performs regularly mostrly across Europe, but also in Morocco, India, Malaysia USA and South America.

Pianist Min-Jung Kym makes her recording debut on Signum Records, leading the Philharmonia Orchestra under conductor Clemens Schuldt in performances of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, and alongside Zsolt-Tihamer Visontay for Mendelssohn’s Double Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Orchestra in D Minor.Steinway Artist Min-Jung Kym has acquired an internationally recognised reputation performing with some of the world’s leading orchestras and musicians, including collaborations with (amongst others) Barry Wordsworth, Alison Balsom, the Haffner Ensemble, Pierre Amoyal, Leon Bosch, Joy Farrall, Andrew Haveron, Sergey Levitin, Adrian Brendel, Thomas Carroll, Mats Lidstrom and the soprano Susan Bickley.

Ian Watson and Susanna Ogata’s acclaimed series on CORO Connections continues with the fourth disc in their exploration of Beethoven’s Sonatas for Fortepiano and Violin. The Opus 12 Sonatas that are explored on this final volume are among the most Mozartian of the sonatas. They are, however, filled with Beethoven’s inimitable voice, from the assertive Sonata No. 1, in the violin’s most brilliant and sonorous key of D major, to the pianistically brilliant No. 3 in E flat with its cascades of triplets and sextuplets. Tokyo was established in Frankfurt during 1979 by Caribbean born bassist Ken Taylor, having previously played with Supermax and with John Mayall. Taylor joined forces with Austrian musicians Robert Musenbichler and Fritz Matzka (both former Wolfgang Ambros and Georg Danzer associates) and also roped in his ex-Supermax colleague Lothar Krell (who had been playing with the German Jazz Rock troupe Paladyn) and former Axe and Schloss man Klaus Luley.
The debut Tokyo album spawned a quite popular European hit in the track 'Tokyo' itself, garnering the band a multitude of TV appearances and the promise of a strong second album. However, the 1982 album 'Fasten Your Seat Belts', failed to take off and Krell left the band to work on his Klangwelt Studio before the recording of the third album 'San'. Krell was replaced by Hired Help Band keyboardist Volker Barber.

Nowadays most performers overlook Haydn's piano sonatas, mainly because over years these works have been deemed as less-interesting or duller than those by Haydn's fellow composers, namely Mozart and Beethoven. This unrighteous judgement stems definitely from a sloppy understanding of this composers's outstanding and unique skills.

It's not just that "Born on the Bayou" announces that CCR has discovered its sound – it reveals the extent of John Fogerty's myth-making.

"Standards" is a two-volume set of jazz albums by the Keith Jarrett Trio. Originally released in 1983 by ECM, they have been multiply re-issued. The two volumes present performances of pianist Keith Jarrett with Gary Peacock on double bass and Jack DeJohnette on drums.

"Pretty Miss Norma Jean" may be best remembered as Porter Wagoner's stage partner before he was paired with Dolly Parton, but she was also well known for an often hard-edged group of songs that spoke of poverty, hard work, and the instability of romantic relationships. Although she didn't have the songwriting creativity of Loretta Lynn or Dolly Parton, she was comparable to those stars in her general outlook. Norma Jean Beasler was no stranger to poverty herself, born into a hard-working farm family near Wellston, OK. As a child, she wanted to be a country star like Kitty Wells, whom she tried to emulate. She made her professional debut singing "If Teardrops Were Pennies" at age 12 on the radio in Oklahoma City. In high school, she toured with a few Western swing bands, including those of Billy Gray and Merle Lindsay.
