Seong-Jin Cho garnered international attention and critical accolades through his first prize victory in the 2015 Warsaw Chopin Competition, followed by a studio recording pairing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 and the 4 Ballades. Five years later, Seong-Jin returns to Chopin with a complementary program consisting of the romantic Piano Concerto No. 2 and the 4 Scherzi.

Prokofiev's extrovert Scythian Suite is a gift for the boundless energy of these young players, while the intricacy and anguish of Berg's Lulu-Suite are an Abbado speciality, with soprano Anna Prohaska, in her Lucerne Festival debut, singing the heroine's dazzling statement of self-justification. The concert ends with an impassioned account of Tchaikovsky's Pathétique, his final symphony, one of the most moving works in music history.

On the heels of their rapturously received The Red Bird Girls: Very First Time in True Stereo 1964-66 compilation, producers Ron Furmanek and Ash Wells have come up with the first legitimate album devoted to the classic Blue Cat recordings of the Ad-Libs, featuring 24 tracks taken straight from the original master session tapes! The Egedacher organ of the Zwettl monastery is one of the most valuable testimonies of 18th-century southern German-Austrian organ building. It was built by Johann Ignaz Egedacher in the years 1728-1731. This recording contains music from the 17th and 18th centuries from Italian and German-speaking countries. At the same time, the connections between the Italian and German-speaking countries represent a very personal parallel to the life of the organist Marco Paolacci.

The Chief Conductor of Oslo Philharmonic and Music Director of Orchestre de Paris, Klaus Mäkelä announces his debut album; the complete Sibelius symphonies plus the fragments of the unfinished 8th and his last symphonic poem Tapiola. UFO’s 13th studio album, 1992’s High Stakes & Dangerous Men, was their first record in ten years to feature bassist and founder member Pete Way.

The dates in the title of this retrospective may seem a bit strange (you'd expect them to be arranged from earliest to latest), but in fact they accurately reflect the presentation of the material on this program, which begins with three selections from Capercaillie's most recent album (2004's Choice Language) and ends with one from their 1984 debut. In between are offered two-discs' worth of live recordings, 12" single mixes, and album tracks from the band's 20-year career – an excellent overview of Capercaillie's frequently thrilling work that contains just enough rare and previously-unreleased material to tempt fans who already own most or all of the albums. Fronted by the sweet-voiced Karen Matheson, Capercaillie has always been unusually successful in its attempt to wed traditional Celtic songs and tunes to modern technology, alternating between straight-up trad fare ("Snuff Wife Jigs," "Rob Roy Reels") and Celtic-influenced pop songs ("Grace and Pride," "Waiting for the Wheel to Turn") with the occasional excursion into Irish/East European fusion ("Co Nu Mire Rium?") or disco-flavored mouth music ("Finlays") along the way. Very highly recommended.

An incredible collection – and one that fills in a crucially under-documented side of the New York dancefloor generation – the wealth of special mixes and edits that were made for that city's important DJs for their own use in clubs! The package sorts through a mountain of never-issued acetates, and goes way past conventional disco or rare club collections – to showcase the special mixing talents these DJs brought to their re-presentation of the material – which was usually done on tape, then pressed onto acetate discs for their own private use! Those rare treasures are brought forth here – in a beautiful package that's also overflowing with fantastic notes that finally give this lost history its due – all handled by Al Kent – who's a hell of a mixer himself, as well as an underground club historian.
