The Devil's Wall (Czech: Čertova stěna) is a comic-romantic opera in three acts, with music by Bedřich Smetana and libretto by Eliška Krásnohorská, in their third operatic collaboration. The subtext of the plot is a Czech legend of a sheer rockface that overlooks the Vltava river, near the old monastery of Vyšši Brod, where the Devil was said to have halted the building of the monastery by damming the Vltava, which then rose and flooded the site.

Weasels Ripped My Flesh is the seventh studio album by the American rock group the Mothers of Invention, and the tenth overall by Frank Zappa, released in 1970. It is the second album released after the Mothers disbanded in 1969, preceded by Burnt Weeny Sandwich. In contrast to its predecessor, which almost entirely focused on studio recordings of arranged compositions, Weasels Ripped My Flesh consists of a combination of live and studio recordings and features more improvisation.

The only surviving version of Carlo Gesualdo’s First Book of Madrigals was printed in Spring 1594 by the typographer Vincenzo Baldini. At the time, the composer was twenty-eight years old and had just left behind the murder of his wife, in 1590. In this first publication Gesualdo probably collected pieces composed earlier than 1591. The music is written by a young author, far away from the better-known experimental composer of later years, yet is clear and faultless, and often very effective.

Marco Albonetti writes: ‘”Amarcord” signifies memory, the nostalgic re-enactment of the past. Here, it evokes the idea of joining two instruments, the saxophone and the bandoneón, both of which were invented in the middle of the nineteenth century. The bandoneón, created as a more agile substitute for the organ in the world of sacred music in Germany, was brought by German immigrants to Buenos Aires, where it became central to the tango, a music enlivened by rhythmic ideas from Africa and inextricably linked to dance.

Vladimir Ashkenazy turns to the fine art of the piano miniature in this album, unlocking the poetic expression and vibrant colours of forty exquisite pieces by Alexander Scriabin (1872–1915). "Vers la flame", released in April 2015 to mark the centenary of Scriabin’s death, opens with the C sharp minor Étude Op.2 No.1, written during its composer’s mid-teens, and comprises such late masterworks as the album’s title track and the five Préludes Op.74.

The Who's seventh studio album, "The Who By Numbers", was originally released in 1975 and quickly received international acclaim. The album peaked at number 7 on the UK charts and made it to number 8 on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart. The Who By Numbers features titles "Slip Kid", "Dreaming from the Waist" and hit single "Squeeze Box" that made it to number 16 on the U.S. Billboard Pop Singles and 10 on the UK Singles Chart.

"The Photo Album" is Death Cab for Cutie's third studio album and was released in 2001. It was produced by Chris Walla and well-received by critics.

Released in 2000, "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes" is the second studio album by Death Cab for Cutie, and is considered to be a landmark indie rock album of the early 2000s.

Joan Baez is an American folk singer, songwriter, musician, and activist, whose contemporary folk music often includes songs of protest or social justice. "Recently" was her first album of new material issued in the US in eight years. As she had done during the 1960s for Bob Dylan, Tim Hardin and Richard Farina, among others, Baez lent her voice to many of the songwriters of the day, in this case Mark Knopfler, U2, Peter Gabriel, and Johnny Clegg and found herself straddling a line between attempting to further connect with young audiences, while reintroducing herself to her established listeners, after such a long absence.

Koinè is Rita Marcotulli's second DSD reissue release following her earlier album The Light Side of the Moon which features a track made famous by Pink Floyd. Marcotullo is a Jazz singer, pianist, and composer who always has a thread that connects her albums. Which explains why this album shares the title song (Koinè) with her prior album along with 10 more of her original compositions.

Lee Konitz had been on tour in Japan when he went into the studio with the Laurent de Wilde trio and recorded this album. He's joined on three numbers by Keiko Lee, a smokey Japanese vocalist. The result is somewhat out of the ordinary. There are three Konitz compositions including a reworking of "Thingin'". The rest are standards with an excellent version of Miles Davis "Solar" and Theolonius Monk's "Ruby my dear".

Hungarian pianist Denes Varjon has made important contributions to the ECM New Series’catalog. This recording, his first solo release for the label, finds the renowned musician drawing comparisons between legendary works by Berg, Janacek and Liszt. The recital draws listeners in within moments; beginning with the brooding language of Berg’s Piano Sonata Op.1 and continues with Janacek’s impressionistic “In the Mists”. Finally, the album concludes with the transparent B-minor Sonata by Liszt. The beautiful account of these treasured pieces are rendered with immaculate phrasing, a must own!
