Soul Jazz’s Afro-Futurist Electro Funk in Space exploits continue with first full reissue of Alien Starr’s angular machine funk jams from 1985.

The Association is an American sunshine pop band from California. During the late 1960s, the band had numerous hits at or near the top of the Billboard charts and were the lead-off band at 1967's Monterey Pop Festival. They are noted for intricate vocal harmonies by the band's multiple singers. The group's debut album may be better listening today than it was in 1966, because it can be appreciated more - and it definitely deserves a better reputation than it has among folk-rock, psychedelic pop, and pop/rock enthusiasts.

"Lemon Cotton Candy Sunset" is the solo debut of Richard Edwards, known for over a decade prior as the man behind the thoughtful indie rock of Margot & the Nuclear So and So's. It's not really a solo debut in a strict sense – Edwards was always his band's singer, main songwriter, and sole consistent member, and a number of guest musicians join him here. What's significant is that it's the first album under his own name, and one that follows a period of personal upheaval.

"Golden Piano Hits" embodies some of the fascinating explorations that are going on right now in popular music. You'll notice two vitally important things about this album. First, highlighting Joe's astonishing piano artistry, is the unusually appealing orchestral background. Some selections feature string orchestra, woodwinds and an expanded rhythm section; others add an intriguing blend of trombones and Flugelhorn.
