We’re an American Band is the beloved 1973 classic by Grand Funk. Their genre-bending blend of funk, heavy rock and boogie led to their emergence as one of music’s most iconic rock bands. The album would be certified Platinum by the RIAA and includes the band’s massive hit singles “We’re an American Band” and “Walk Like a Man”. This album included on the National Association of Recording Merchandisers’ “Definitive 200 Albums of All Time”.

After many years of duo concerts, when we started to think about the need of a new recording session, came the proposal of the fonè prestigious label. Knowing its philosophy, we were aware that it would not be just to record music but to record it as we used to do in our concerts. That is why we thought it would be more important to work on beautiful melodies composed by the great jazz masters, having as primary objective to play them with respectful intensity.

Early Jazz was first and foremost Dance music, a fact which is all too easily forgotten these days. As each new Dance craze arrived on the scene, from Charleston and Ragtime, through Foxtrot and Lindy Hop, and then on to Jive, the development of Jazz music moved along with it, and it was only later that Jazz was established in the concert hall. The quartet Echoes Of Swing have put a clear marker down with their latest album 'Dancing'.

It's been nearly five years since Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds issued the manic, intense rock cabaret that was Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!! Since then, the formation and breakup of Grinderman yielded two studio offerings, and Cave and Warren Ellis have composed a few film scores. Push the Sky Away, produced by Nick Launay, is painted with a deliberately limited sonic palette by Ellis. The album's sequencing makes it feel like a long, moody suite. While most of these songs contain simple melodies and arrangements that offer the appearance of vulnerability and tenderness, it is inside this framework that they eventually reveal their sharp fangs and malcontent.

The new indie-star-studded Hanukkah+ with Yo La Tengo, The Flaming Lips, HAIM, Adam Green, Jack Black, Loudon Wainwright III, Craig Wedren, Alex Frankel (Holy Ghost!) and more is here. As mentioned, the compilation was curated and executive produced by longtime Wes Anderson music supervisor Randall Poster, and as mentioned, the HAIM song is a cover of “If It Be Your Will” by the late Leonard Cohen.

The addition of guitarist Ronald Jones and drummer Steven Drozd recharges the Flaming Lips' batteries for the superb Transmissions From the Satellite Heart, another prismatic delicacy that continues the group's drift toward pop nirvana. In typical fashion, the record's left-field hit, the freak-show singalong "She Don't Use Jelly," bears little resemblance to the album as a whole; the remainder of Transmissions is much more sonically and structurally ambitious the towering "Moth in the Incubator" keeps generating new layers of noise before erupting into an amphetamine waltz, "Pilot Can at the Queer of God" dive-bombs with kamikaze recklessness, and the slow-burning "Oh My Pregnant Head" is as mind-expanding as its title.

To introduce its Jazz LP series, Unique Records spent several months in the careful screening of young composers, arrangers and musicians before a final decision could be made in the ultimate selection of just the right men and material. It took only one "hearing" of The Westchester Workshop group and Unique had its inaugural album. Giving the album a title was a simple task since the sounds created here are a unique marriage between two styles of jazz.

Henrik Olsson and Ola Rubin are two well acknowledged swedish improvisers active on the experimental/improv scene in Europe. Currently with a base in Copenhagen/Malmö where they are involved in several projects that frequently appears on the international scene. In this duo, they both immerse themselves in a hearty improvised musical dialogue that is full of energy and expressivity. They work their way towards the unheard by meticulously exploring mind-boggling sounds, rhythms and abstract sonic shapes, often rapidly shifting between these. Curiosity are at the core of this duos identity and their interplay is reactive and dynamic. They both utilizes a way of playing that takes advantage of extended techniques which they both developed on their respective instrument.

I would give all of these songs a 5 (with a few possible exceptions). The marks deducted were for the albums short playing time (approx. 35 minutes) and the situation of the track listing (I would rather "Simple Dreams" switched with "Country Music").

Dreaming #11 is something of an oddity: a mini-disc released in 1988 with three live tracks and one new studio track.

Surfing with the Alien belongs to its era like Are You Experienced? belongs to its own – perhaps it doesn't transcend its time the way the Jimi Hendrix Experience's 1967 debut does, but Joe Satriani's 1987 breakthrough can be seen as the gold standard for guitar playing of the mid- to late '80s, an album that captures everything that was good about the glory days of shred.

Origins is the fourth studio album by the American pop rock band Imagine Dragons, released on November 9, 2018 by Kidinakorner, Polydor Records and Interscope Records. The album was produced by the band members themselves, frequent collaborator Alex da Kid, Mattman & Robin, John Hill, Joel Little, Tim Randolph, and Jayson DeZuzio, who produced a majority of the band's previous effort, Evolve (2017), as well as Jorgen Odegard. Frontman Dan Reynolds described Origins as a "sister album" to Evolve, and that it would complete a cycle of their music.
