Tales of Mystery and Imagination (Edgar Allan Poe) is the debut studio album by British rock band The Alan Parsons Project. It was released on 1 May 1976 in the United States by 20th Century Fox Records and on 1 June 1976 in the United Kingdom by Charisma Records. The lyrical and musical themes of the album, which are retellings of horror stories and poetry by Edgar Allan Poe, attracted a cult audience. The title of the album is taken from the title of a collection of Poe's macabre stories of the same name.

Broadcaster and chart-topping choirmaster Gareth Malone today announces Music for Healing, his brand-new album on Decca Records/Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company, featuring solo piano, choir and strings, to be released on 8th November. Each piece is named after a month of the year, reflecting the essential role that the natural rhythms of time play in the process of healing and restoration.

Leonard Bernstein was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He took piano lessons as a boy and attended the Garrison and Boston Latin Schools. At Harvard University, he studied with Walter Piston, Edward Burlingame-Hill, and A. Tillman Merritt, among others. Before graduating in 1939, he made an unofficial conducting debut with his own incidental music to "The Birds," and directed and performed in Marc Blitzstein's "The Cradle Will Rock." Then at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, he studied piano with Isabella Vengerova, conducting with Fritz Reiner, and orchestration with Randall Thompson.

50th anniversary edition of Bowie’s seminal album featuring a brand new mix by original producer Tony Visconti. Originally released 14th November 1969, the sophomore effort from Bowie was a big turning point from his 1967 debut. The album most famously introduces the character of Major Tom in Space Oddity which would go on to be one of his most enduring classics. The new mix of the album now features the title track of the boxset Conversation Piece restored to the track listing in its initially intended position before it was originally dropped due to time constraints of vinyl.

Despite its title, the Ernie Wilkins Orchestra did not become "the big new band of the '60s" and this LP was its only recording. With such an all-star cast (including trumpeters Clark Terry and Charlie Shavers, tenors Zoot Sims and Yusef Lateef, vibraphonist Eddie Costa and guitarist Kenny Burrell) the big band would not have had much of a chance anyway in the 1960s. Wilkins' progressive but swinging arrangements for three of his originals and nine standards are enjoyable but the brevity of the tracks (the longest one is 3½-minutes) and the rather short solos is unfortunate. This LP falls a bit short of its great potential.

Dick Hyman was a jack-of-all trades keyboardist throughout much of the 1950s and 1960s, recording both jazz and easy listening albums on various keyboards before eventually focusing primarily on the former. This 1960 Everest LP clearly falls in the easy listening camp, with Hyman's lush piano backed by a large string orchestra, conducted by Jules Schacter. Even though there are two jazz compositions included ("Caravan" and "Sugar Blues") on the album, as well as several standards favored by jazz musicians ("Willow Weep for Me" and "I'll Never Be the Same") Hyman never takes the opportunity to show his true capabilities at the piano, as that might have overwhelmed the intended audience for this recording.

Chubby Jackson, the bassist and head cheerleader for the first two Woody Herman Herds, always loved big bands. He led a few short-time orchestras but none caught on for long. In 1958 he recorded a big-band album for Everest that is reissued on this CD. The orchestra includes some Herman alumni plus a few studio musicians. Although there are many worthy solos throughout the set (including a Don Lamond drum feature on "Loch Lamond" and spots for Bob Brookmeyer and Al Cohn), most are brief and the emphasis is on the shouting ensembles. The music is fine but conservative for 1958 and the band did not stay together beyond this and a similar Woody Herman recording project.

In 1973, Kalapana was born from the talent of David John (DJ) Pratt, Carl James Malani Bilyeu, Bryant Mackey Feary, and Kirk Thompson. Within a year's time, they opened shows for Earth, Wind & Fire, the Moody Blues, and Sly & The Family Stone, while releasing this self-titled debut album. The songs on Kalapana I, Kalapana II and Kalapana III became the classics of a new era in Contemporary Hawaiian music, and continue to shape and inspire the island sound and its musicians.

Kalapna had a very different take on "Hapa haole" music. Very jazzy, Always liked Kalpana, and this album reminds me why. They were unlike other contemporary groups like C and K, Olomana, Beamers, Country Comfort, etc. Distinct vocals and powerful arrangements.

Amund Kleppan is a promising jazz drummer from Norway. He currently lives in Berlin, where he studies at the Jazz Institute Berlin. He has shared the stage with musicians like Arild Andersen, Marius Neset, Jacob Young, Trygve Seim and Marcin Wasilewski. In addition to being sideman in many different projects, Amund has his own group, to which he composes and arranges music. His debut album will be released 15th of November 2019.

Paradise Theatre is the tenth album by the rock band Styx, released in January 1981. It was the most successful album by Styx, peaking at #1 for 3 weeks on the Billboard Album Chart in April and May 1981 (non-consecutively).
Four singles from the album charted, three in the top 10. The lead single "The Best of Times", written by Dennis DeYoung, went to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Too Much Time on My Hands", written by Tommy Shaw, went to #9 on the Billboard Hot 100, Shaw's only top 10 hit for Styx.

This remastered release comes from Tim Buckley's live 1969 sessions at the Troubadour. The father of Jeff Buckley, the singer-songwriter recorded these tracks at a time when he was increasingly drawing on jazz in addition to the folk rock style he had been associated with previously, making Venice Mating Call an engaging and inventive live album.
